Chapter #6

Put it up to a vote

    by: Unknown
When you saw your father's face you knew what his decision would be in almost an instant, you knew that he would consider it. "Your Idea sounds interesting Lady Gemfire. I say we put it up to a vote. If a majority agree with the notion of lifting the ban then it shall be so. If the majority disagree then one more final vote may be issued among the cities and towns. If the populace agrees during the second voting process then the ban will be lifted. If they don't agree then it shall not be brought up again for another six months after the next council meeting." Your father said as he was addressing the whole council.

"As some of you are aware you can only submit one vote. On the ballot you must write 'Yes' or 'No'. Once you have voted please drop the ballot into the ballot box. Once the last ballot has been cast. Any questions?" Lord Adrian asked as he calmly scanned the room.

No one questioned the elderly giant for they were quite familiar with the process. "Very well, we shall proceed to the voting process." Your father said as he placed the ballot box on the table.

Out of everyone in the room you knew that you and Lady Gemfire would vote to lift the ban. Commander Ward would obviously vote no. He just had a habit of rejecting every idea that did not relate to war tactics and military training and he viewed the idea of magic as a coward's crutch. Now your father and Lord Adrian were the wild cards. Lord Adrian might reject since he holds traditional values and would only agree to change if he felt like the times warranted the change as a necessary evil. Your father may reject the idea since the painful memories of your mother's death still lingers on his mind. As everyone was writing on their ballot you felt a great tension in the council room. Everyone put their ballots into the ballot box. You were the last to drop your ballot into the box since seeing Commander Ward gave you the chills despite you obviously being taller with the stern commander.

"All the votes have been cast. We will now count all of the votes. We have one Yes. We have one No. We have two Yeses. We have two Nos. This last vote will determine if the ban is lifted or if the commoners should have the final verdict. The result is..."

You have the following choices:

1. The ban is lifted

*Noteb*
2. Rejected, the commoners must now vote

*Noteb* indicates the next chapter needs to be written.
