Check the Slums for Thieves

The path of course would be difficult and at first you would only get simple missions. You then decided to check the slums for thieves. Fortunately your new place of residence was not far off from the slums. You proceed to walk down the street and go to the local tavern. Thieves are known to spend most most of their time there. As you enter the tavern you witness a dashing man around your age make out with a woman. As you scan the area for any potential thief the man and woman break their embrace. It was during that embrace that the make stole the women's coin purse without her realizing it. When the woman was about to pay for her drink she was humiliated. By then the gentleman thief made his way over to you.
"Hello there gorgeous. What's a doll like you doing here? Are you here to drink your troubles away?"
"No, I'm here to find someone who can teach me how to be a thief. I'm sure you and your wife have no interest in what I have to say."
The man starts laughing at you like you said something stupid. Just then the woman started to throw a riot claiming that her coin purse was stolen. You then notice that the woman starts threatening to kill anyone who gets in her way. She was clearly drunk from having one too many glasses of booze. You then notice a subtle smirk appear on the man's face.
"That woman is not my wife or girlfriend. She's just a local prostitute who is cheating on her well to do husband. So you want to learn my trade. The name's Mathis."
You then state your name to the thief.
"What a lovely name. I guess you were once a duchess. Now you are barely surviving. Sounds like whoever stole your title must have a wicked scheme."
You then look at Mathis with shock.
"How did you know that?" You inquire the man.
"Your eyes tell your whole life story deary. Tell you what I can do. I'll teach you the art of deception. There are also some towns that hire thieves to repossess valuables. A lovely lass such as yourself might want to consider your options. The best thief always stays anonymous and works by the cover of night or for a city that appreciates thievery. Let us leave this place. I can't stand being around corpse. I rather steal from those who are living."
You follow Mathis to an alley. He then points you towards...
