Chapter #4
Flesh of Stone, Buns of Blubber
by: Unknown
There were many gorgons in ancient Greece and none were more infamous than Medusa. Except for maybe one gorgon in particular. Her name was Kara and she was a pale albino white skinned gorgon with rattlesnakes for hair, sharp fingernails and toenails and a long rattlesnake's tail. She was an evil bitch of a gorgon if there ever was one. She was a horrible monster who would petrify anyone unfortunate enough to come across her, especially when unprovoked.
At this moment she had petrified a few children playing by the stream as she let out an evil laugh, going so far as to push one of her stoned victims into the ground with her foot. "It feels so good to be so bad." Hissed the rattlesnake woman as she made her petrifying eyes glow. She then let out another vicious laugh before she petrified a nearby stag and even broke off one of its legs to scratch her back. She was pure evil.
In fact, Kara was so evil that a few other gorgons watching could only look in disgust. A long necked and purple skinned python type gorgon clenched her fists just watching the scene. "That Kara just makes my blood boil." She said. A green skinned and four-eyed cobra based gorgon with a flap around her head let out a hiss of agreement. "That bitch. Kara knows that children are off limits to gorgons." "Don't you dare say that horrible woman's name!" shouted an elderly gorgon woman with bushmasters for hair as she banged her cane into the ground. "That evil fiend is why humans hate gorgons. She's worse than Medusa, Stheno and Euryale ever were. One of these days the gods are going to get sick of her."
Kara had then tore a branch off of a tree sacred to Demeter and used it to pick her teeth when she saw was looked like a group of humans gathering for worship at a temple with a statue of Athena in front of it. "Oh goodie," said Kara with a hiss as she shook her rattle tail. "More humans to petrify."
Kara slithered forward and made sure that she was completely hidden. One archer at the temple turned his head and went to investigate. He saw Kara's tail and instinctively reached for his bow. "What matter of creature is this?" It wouldn't be a surprise that ancient Greeks wouldn't have heard of rattlesnakes let alone recognize a rattlesnake gorgon. As the archer walked closer to bushes, Kara sprung out and let out an evil hiss. Before the archer could even scream, she smashed her butt into him to knock the petrified archer to the ground. She looked down and gave a smirk because she saw the symbol for Artemis on his belt. She then scratched the crest off with her claws before laughing.
Kara hissed and walked into the temple and immediately everyone panicked. "Gorgon!" Several worshippers in the back row were instantly petrified as the rest tried to run, only for Kara to trip them with her tail and force them to look up into her eyes, turning them to stone." Kara then turned her attention to the priests. "Merciful Athena," said the head priest. "Goddess of wisdom. We besiege you; strike down this gorgon, this vile creature from Tartarus itself." The other priests fell to stone on the ground as Kara made her way to the head priest. The priest tried to turn his head but Kara spat poison into his face that burned him.
The priest screamed and held his head and in his haste he looked at Kara and instantly he was turned into a stone statue. Kara let out a laugh, proud of what she had done. However, her actions had pissed off the gods one too many times and they were watching from Mt. Olympus. "Even for a gorgon," said Athena, the goddess of wisdom. "Kara is one of the most vile creatures I've ever seen and she has just ransacked my temple." "Not to mention killed one of my favorite hunters," said Artemis, the goddess of the moon. "She has the manners of an Erymanthian boar." Aphrodite, the goddess of beauty walked forward with a smirk. "Not to mention her vanity, which gives me a good idea. I've just thought of how we can punish that gorgon."
Aphrodite whispered into Artemis and Athena's ears and all three goddesses smiled before casting the spell. Where was Kara when this was going on?
