Chapter #6

A young man struggling with his sexual identity

    by: bejjinks Author IconMail Icon
Brock doesn't really struggle with his sexual identity. He knows what he likes. What he struggles with is explaining his interests to others - or - finding people who understand his interests. Our world thinks too much in black and white. Our world puts people either in the category of being LGTBQXYZSTPUNVLMNOP or in the category of being a homophobic prude that hates pleasure.

Brock is not bisexual. He is not homosexual. He does not fit under any of those labels. BUT, he isn't perfectly straight either.

He lives with two housemates. Mark is a homophobic prude that hates pleasure. He goes to church and tries really hard to be holy but he's addicted to caffeine. Brock can never predict what Mark will do. One day, Mark will be strung out after drinking fifteen cups of coffee and the next day, he'll throw everyone's coffee in the trash while calling it the Devil's Brew.

Steve is LGTBQXYZSTPUNVLMNOP. He'll hump anything that moves. He'll hump things that don't move. And even though he respects Brock enough to not hump him, Steve plants slobbery kisses on Brock and speaks lewdly at all times.

Brock hates his housemates. Even on those rare occasions where they work out a truce to stop fighting, they still annoy Brock by trying to convert him. Mark keeps trying to get Brock to give up coffee while Steve tries to convert Brock into a flaming queen.

At least Brock has his own space where he can avoid his housemates. At least both his housemates share household duties so the shared space is neat and tidy. If they could afford it, they'd each move into separate houses but Brock never mentions that because saying anything or nothing can trigger another fight.

During a fight, the remote gets smashed. Mark won't chip in for a replacement because television is the tool of the Devil. Steve won't chip in unless they get a porn channel. So Brock takes the television to his room and orders a replacement remote.

The remote that arrives is not the one he ordered. It's a universal remote that comes with instructions claiming it can change the entire world.
