"You'll be Denise's assistant today, because she will be training Michelle," Kim finished in a calm but determined tone.

It was the chance for you proving you can get something out from someone And that cow-faced Denise, smirking from ear to ear having hearing that.
Her attention was quickly drawn away from you as Michelle shyly came near her and tried to make a good impression. She didn't even glance back at you!
As you turned your head back to your boss ,Kim saw she had to add some explainations to her choice.
"Listen James, you are a good worker, but as a boss I can't be responsible of someone saying he has nothing to do. You can go now." She spoke calmy and in a caring way but her words are sharp as blades.
"Speaking of stuff to do we have a long day ahead Michelle , so let's start with a little introducing session then I'll show you how not to be a lazy working partner and the key to efficient work!" Denise threw a last peek at your face clearly containing laughter for having the first step on you for once. She probably thought of a way to take care of the situation in order to get the coming promotion as Kim anounced there will soon be a post of head managment going out and some changes in the company.
Your thoughts already assaulting you, you had to try something. Denise and Michelle had left the room already and you hadn't even intervened in this yet!
"Kim? What was that?" You spluttered out still not believing the situation.
"I told you, I didn't like you saying that you had nothing to do today.... "
