You were still on cloud 9 as you walked towards the building for your first day of internship at one of the best places available. It was a brutal selection process for good reason, it was a paid position and a great opportunity to get hired right after if everything went well. From what you heard, only you and someone else from your university made the cut.
After a boring onboarding process where you had to sign documents and watch some tutorial videos you were finally ready to meet your manager Kim, you were nervous about making a good impression and curious to know who was that other student that made the internship, because you knew the only 2 people that had better grades than you somehow didn't make it. Remembering that little fact made you proud and confident as you waited to meet your new boss.
"Hello Rob, it's a pleasure to meet you!" Kim shook hands with you as you were captivated by her presence. You were expecting someone in her forties but with her luscious red hair, elegant makeup and stylish power suit you felt a bit intimidated. She was clearly a successful person, and although you stammered a bit talking about yourself you were excited that you could start getting experience working alongside someone like her.
However your excitement dropped a little when you were introduced to the other intern. You knew Michelle from a couple of courses you took with her, and she was one of those snobby girls with a privileged life that clearly made it into places like this due to daddy's influence instead of putting the work required. Kim was a bit surprised you didn't know each other and Michelle just gave you a cold greeting before introducing herself to Kim in a more confident way than you did. As the rich brat she was Michelle took good care of her appearance, but you noticed her clothing was quite casual and wondered how long was she going to last when it was time to do actual work.
Finally, you were taken to a tour around the office and introduced to the different coworkers, you instantly liked Jenny who seemed to be kind and friendly, Jacinta was also nice but something about her was putting you off for some reason. Candice and Denise struck you as more conceited, or maybe they weren't having a great day?
"And that's everyone, except Helena, our janitor who currently isn't here" Kim told you as you went back to your office to finally start your intership at this great company.
