Being the resident magic users of Canterlot, the girls believed it nessacary to come to the aid of those that requested help. Thankfully, there hadn't been many problems that required thier assistance, but one person in trouble was too much in the eyes of the group. Sometimes they didn't even need to be called forward, they just found the trouble themselves. Such was the reason they girls found themselves on the grounds of an abandoned Manor a ways out if town.
Rarity shook her shoes, ripping the caught grass away. "Pinkie." She grimaced, "Are you sure you saw something fly this direction?"
"Positive" Pinkie Pie stood right up against a worn out tree while Applejack knocked on it. The resulting crash to the ground suprising no one. "I was standing on the roof when I saw something big and bright fly through the air. It didn't have wings though. And Twilight figured from all her math stuff that it would have to have landed somewhere here."
The manor overlooking the yard the seven walked across had clearly been in need of repair for quite awhile. Much of it's paint was falling off and it's roof was a checkerboard of shingle and shinglelsss patches.
"Well, I don't know why anyone in thier right minds would come to this miserable place." Rarity said. "And looks as if no one has for quite awhile."
"Even still..." Sunset said as she held the cowering Fluttershy close, "...if there's even a chance that something magical came here then we have to find it before someone else does."
"I know darling. But we haven't found anything yet." Rarity wanted to lean against something to show how tired she was getting, but she wasn't going to soil her exploring clothes on those raggedy trees, no mam.
Twilight shook her magic detecting device and sighed. "I hate to say it girls, but Rarity is right. And I can't get this darn device of mine to work right. Some kind of interference. We're gonna have to do this the old fashioned way. Split up. Anyone finds anything, they report back with thier geodes."
None of the girls liked the sound of it, but at that moment it looked like thier only option. Each girl was given a partner, except for Rarity who stated herself no one would want to put up with her displeasure of the area. As such, Sunset and Pinkie walked towards the house itself, Applejack and Rainbow entered between two rose bushes while Twilight and Fluttershy walked towards a grove of trees. Rarity, being alone, walked off towards two tall walls of topiary. Which oddly enough were the most pristine areas of this worn down place. Little were any of the girls aware that each of them, while heading a different direction, were all heading to the same place: a hedge maze. As each girl went thier ways, walls of greenery silently rose up from the ground, blocking each group from one another.
Unaware of this, Rarity continued on her way. For minutes, she walked left and right and all around, trying to keep a mental note of each direction she was going. But all the while, something was continually fighting for her attention.
"My, my these hedge appear to have been expertly kept. No overlaying branches, hardly a leaf out of place, it's impossible to find much wrong in this place. Quite a feat considering the state of the rest of this place." Rarity walked on and on, each turn making more and more lost.
