Sarah’s vision came back suddenly, but everything was blurred. Her head was swimming. What had happened?
For a second her mind grasped futilely at nothing. Then it all came rushing back. Last night... the machine...where am I?
Immediately she realized that she was in a bed. Her first thought was hospital bed, but a quick glance around told Sarah she was not in a hospital room. This was a private bedroom, but not one she'd ever seen before. Had somebody found her unconscious at the lab and taken her to their house? That didn't make any sense. Why wouldn't they just call an ambulance?
She shifted in the bed to get a better look at the room she was in. As she moved, she realized that something felt very strange. There was a peculiar feeling in her body from the neck down - not quite a tingling, or any other sensation she could easily describe, but there was a definite sense that something was...off. Sarah threw back the covers that were hiding her body from view, and saw:
