Ashley is confused when her parents take her to a pet head clinic. "Are we getting a pet head?" she says.
Her parents sigh. "No," her mother says.
"Then what are we doing here?"
"Ashley," her father says, "you know that your mother and I love you, right?"
"Oh no, you're putting me in the clinic?"
"We're sorry, dear," her mother says. "We just cannot afford to take you."
"But the people here will take good care of you," her father says. "They will still treat you like a person."
"And you will eventually be adopted by a loving person," her mother says.
Ashley sighs. "I understand, Mom and Dad. Money has been tight these past weeks."
"We're glad that you're fine with this, dear," your mother says.
And so, Ashley's parents turned her into the clinic, and she was instantly turned into a pet head. Her body is put in suspended animation until another pet head chooses to attach to it.
Ashley floats and gives each of her parents a kiss on the cheek. "I will never forget you both," she says.
They all say their good-byes and the parents leave.
And so, Ashley is in the clinic waiting for someone to adopt her. Eventually, someone comes across her. It is a male who wants to be a pet head. For some reason, he thinks that Ashley's cute head would fit great on his body.
