This choice: Chasing Mel, she took the glasses. • Go Back... Hayley sighed before smiling slightly when she saw Mel run out of your room carrying the antique glasses with you chasing after her. "Give those back!" Annoyed, you yelled. "They don't belong to you!"
Hayley snatched them from Mel as she ran passed. "They don't belong to you either, John." Firmly, she said. "They were from Harry's antique collection. His cousin, Christina borrowed them to play with."
"Their very weird glasses, Hayley." Frowning, you said. "When I look through them, they made this strange book I found seem to glow."
"What book?" Concerned, Hayley asked.
"The book on my desk." Pointing, you replied. "I was about to open the cover when Mel took the glasses off my face and ran off with them!"
Hayley sighed before casually waving her hand, causing the book to vanish. "I'll have to thank her later." Relieved, she thought. Then she said, "That book belongs to me. It's magic." She moved her fingers to indicate sarcasm making you smile.
"Well, its on my desk, go and get it." Lightly, you said. "I should tell harry though that her little cousin climbed the tree next to our house, she could have been hurt."
"Mom is already taking care of that." Calmly, Hayley said. "Why don't you hit your homework, that will give you the rest of the weekend to yourself."
"Sounds good to me." Smiling, you said. "Call me for dinner?"
"We will." Smiling back, Hayley said.
You went back into your room while Hayley returned to mom's study where Christina was sitting in a chair, pouting tearfully. "Any chance we can bring Harry back?" Wincing, Hayley asked.
"We can change her back easily but there is an issue." Serious, mom said. "He's drawn to magical artifacts like a moth to a flame."
"Has he been absorbing the magic?" Worried, Hayley asked.
Mom nodded. "Yes but I fear he may have also been leaking some of that magic to John, making him drawn to magic as well."
"Hence he noticed the magic book where before it meant nothing to him." Sighing, Hayley said. "What can we do?"
"For now, we let John know that Harry is off with his parents on one of their business trips." Looking at Harry, she replied. "Until he returns, Christina will be living with us for a while."
"Why can't you change me back now?" Worried, Christina asked.
"All of that magic you have absorbed must deplete before we can safely change you back." Patiently, mom said. "Otherwise, you will be wearing skirts and dresses longer than you might think."
"How long?" Wincing, Christina asked.
"It depends upon how much magic you had absorbed." Honestly, Hayley said. "We will know more after we give you a medical exam."
"Dr. Thompson is on her way." Serious, mom said. "From what I can sense, you have at least a month before you change back to normal."
"Wait a minute!" Alarmed, Christina squeaked. "How do you two know about all of this? Don't tell me you are some kind of witches!"
"We are, Christina." Softly, mom said. "You can not tell John this or who you really are. It will not end well for him if you do."
"We are not evil, Christina." Gently, Hayley said. "Still, we are a secretive group."
Christina looked between mom and Hayley before she...
