Chapter #5

Epic Meal Time

Three days.

Three days until Garnet's devil of a mother would come to Gaia 2.0.

Three days until she came to "check up"on her daughter--no, my best friend--and berate her for not getting fat enough; living up to some "family image". And for not eating or enslaving ME, a human; like she did. Then Sapphire would drag Garnet away: from Gaia, from me, from FREEDOM...

And I'd never see her again.
Assuming that bitch didn't just crush or eat me in front of Garnet as punishment, of course.

I'm a pretty chill guy. In my line of work, you have to be. I've reined in my temper when dealing with rude guests and staff, most of whom see humans like me as food. I've faced down an angry Miss Holmes and kept my fear in check when anyone else would have been in tears. I've nearly died in a hundred ways working here, but I still haven't broken. I’d grinned and bore it, because I’m that kind of guy.

But this? Learning I could lose my best friend, one of the VERY precious few anthros I'd met who treated me as an equal, because her mother decided to be a tyrant?

That made me see red. My fists clenched. No. This would NOT happen.. Not if I could help it.

"We won't go down without a fight," I growled through clenched teeth.

"Huh...?" Garnet mumbled, still in shock. She looked down at me, curious.

"We're going to White Brimstone. Ordering EVERYTHING. Hell, you can eat the tables! If Sapphire wants you plump, we'll make it happen!" I climbed onto Garnet's leg. "No way in hell are we just going to skulk and wait! She's NOT going to just cart you off, goddammit! You're my friend, and I'm NOT letting that happen!"

Garnet looked confused for a moment…and then everything was a blur and I felt myself getting yanked upward, faceplanting onto her ample feathery chest.. She was constricting me in a hug, her wings and arms wrapped around me. She craned her long neck down and nuzzled my head with her beak, cooing. “Thank you, thank you Greg. You can’t imagine what a relief this is…Mother would never let me off the leash again…Oh, thank you!” She choked out a happy sob, word failing as she kept nuzzling me.

I hugged her back—and NO. I DID NOT “take the opportunity” to cop a feel on her breasts.
She’s my FRIEND, goddammit. I wouldn’t do that to her at a time like this. “We’ll get through this,” I promised, looking up at her.. “We’ll do it together.”

Garnet wiped a tear and smiled, picking me up toward her face. “Thank you, Greg.” She said quietly. Then she brought me to her beak and kissed me.

Just for a moment, we allowed ourselves to forget everything. Just savor the moment, an anthro and a human—no, two people—keeping each other afloat.

You think it sounds mushy? Well screw you, we were happy.
And then we let it pass. Time to get to business.
“Okay,” I announced, “We’ve had our moment—”

“A moment I needed,” Garnet interrupted, now looking calm and determined. No fear, no tears. Good.

“We HAD OUR MOMENT,” I continued, “But now we get serious. Sapphire sent you here to fatten up, we’ll do it. Raid the restaurants, bum bacon fat from the fryers…hell, even Denise’s crazy formulas if we have to! We’ve got three days, and I have the week off. Let’s use them!”

“Damn right we will!” Garnet exulted, standing up. “I’ll fill this room by the time Mother gets here!”

She all but kicked the door open as she carried me from the room, marching down the hall on a mission.
We spotted a certain zebra making her way towards us. She spotted me, smirked, and turned around showing her massive striped butt through the hole she’d cut in her pants.

“Hey sweetie. Bet the birdy doesn’t sit on you like I do. Why not ditch feathers for fur?” She purred.

“Blow it out your fat striped ass, Carly,” Garnet growled. “We’ve got business to get to, so quit your ‘Greg-is-my- boyfriend’ crap.”

She stomped down the hall, leaving a slack-jawed Carly in her wake.
I laughed all the way to the White Brimstone.

Bloody hell, I loved this swan woman!
