"Fuck, look at this..." Kent said, trying to move the mass of carpet fibers he was standing in. Maybe it could have been a nice choice of carpeting, were he and Reede not roughly the size of ants.
They were out in the open, well away from most of the room's furniture. It was going to be a bit of a walk to get to any sort of cover or higher ground.
"The lights are on," Reede remarked, "So somebody's probably here, yeah?"
"I fuckin' hope not." Kent growled. "You wanna take a guess at how good a chance you stand against anyone walking around in here?"
The next moment made the pair briefly wonder if they should have kept quiet about the possibility of normally-sized people entering the room. A distant echoing creak sounded, and the two turned just in time to see a door at the far end of the vast room opening.
"Oh, shit..."
Several people were entering. Two men, one looking to be older than either of them, and one who they guessed could be anywhere from his late teens to mid-twenties. Along with them came two girls, looking to be twenty at the absolute oldest.
Getting out of the way wasn't going to be easy if these people were planning to cross through their stretch of the floor.
Spirits were high amongst the four entering the room. They'd just returned from a celebratory lunch after a successful day in court. Apollo and Athena -- with some help on the side from Trucy -- had scored their latest client's acquittal in record time.
Trucy carefully pushed past Apollo, who was carrying a thick stack of papers.
"I'm running upstairs for a minute." she said. "I'll be right back!"
The girl crossed the room and disappeared up the stairs at the other end, leaving her three companions to scatter to various locations in the room. Apollo headed for his desk to quickly sort out the documents leftover from the day's court session, while Athena dropped onto the couch to bring up Widget's screen for a bit of work of her own. Phoenix closed the door behind them before going over to his own desk for a rest.
None of them knew anything about the two extremely small guests that had appeared in the office just shortly before their own arrival.
