This story takes place in an AU where neither family had to deal with powerful men in suits.
Maya Fey and Ema Skye were hanging out together in the apartment their older sisters shared. Meanwhile, Lana Skye was eating lunch across the room and only vaguely paying attention to Ema and Maya's conversation.
"So Ema, do you wanna see the new Spirit technique I discovered?" Maya asked as she held a scroll in her hand that she was unfurling.
"Well, I suppose it wouldn't hurt to watch you use it. I don't quite understand what it is you're doing, but I don't see any harm in indulging!" Ema said. It was clear that she didn't quite accept the fact that spirit channeling was real and that Maya could do it. In fact, Ema would constantly try to come up with ways to disprove different aspects of the technique. She hadn't yet succeeded, but she was still convinced that there was a perfectly scientific explanation behind it all. "So, what's this technique called anyway?"
"It's called the spirit shrinking technique. It should be a way to broaden your perspective of the world around you,"
"Interesting, why don't you try it out then?" Ema asked as Maya nodded and closed her eyes. Ema looked at Maya and noticed that everything around them started looking a lot larger than before. When Ema finally put the pieces together behind what was happening, Maya had opened her eyes and started looking around their surroundings, the two of them had somehow shrunken down to the size of dolls. Only 6 inches tall each and very afraid, they started calling out to Lana.
Lana finished her lunch and turned around to check on her sister only to discover that the two of them had gone missing. She walked over to the couch to try to figure out what was going on.
