"I'm really thinking it would've been better to have Athena tackle this." Apollo said aloud. "Because she can actually drive."
Phoenix nodded with a soft groan to himself. "You make a good point. It's a bit late to ask her to switch places now, though. Sorry, Apollo."

The two attorneys had now been out of the Wright Anything Agency for a little over two hours, visiting a few of their frequent work-related stops across this region of the city to collect various documents and the like relating to a few cases their office had recently taken on. Athena and Trucy had stayed behind to watch the office in case a client happened to arrive, but by now, with the exhaustion of travel on a rather hot day setting in, both Apollo and Phoenix were regretting their hasty choice of work delegation.
At least they were about finished. All they needed now was to figure out a bus trip to get them back to the office and the comfort of their rattling air conditioner.

Apollo was looking over his phone, trying to pick out the best stop to make tracks toward. He wanted to get back to his desk as soon as possible. Phoenix was just ahead of him on the sidewalk, and was about to speak up again when he heard a strange noise. A low hum was sounding from somewhere nearby, drowning out the ever-present rumble of traffic.
"What's..."
The pair had just been passing by the derelict lot of a research laboratory that had burned down a few weeks ago, and the strange sound seemed to be coming from the very same place. Phoenix stopped, looking over in mild confusion. The noise was quite impossible to ignore at its current volume, and growing louder with every moment.
"Oof-!"
He staggered; Apollo hadn't expected him to stop, and had bumped into him, nearly dropping his phone. The younger man scrambled to regain his grip, only narrowly saving his phone from a nasty drop to the ground.
He looked up as well, and was just in time to spot a harsh light suddenly glowing from a dark and partly-collasped window at the base of the burned-out structure before it flashed so brightly that he was left blinded.
"Ack!"

In the next few seconds, both Apollo and Phoenix stumbled in place, their vision momentarily whited out. They could suddenly hear car horns and panicked voices all around them, but were only able to try and get their senses back in order for a few seconds.

The pair was totally unaware of it, but the blinding flash from the building's collapsed basement had been from a beam of energy emitted by a forgotten device of some kind down in the ruins of the burned lab.
The beam had squarely struck them both, and as they were left to stagger awkwardly in place, blinded by the flash, they were completely oblivious to a startling change they were undergoing.
Both were growing in size, and at a rapid pace.
Their stumbling movements were causing them to bump against every last object unfortunate enough to be close to them, their work shoes knocking aside trash bins, damaging bits of fencing, and generally causing quite a panic for every other pedestrian and road vehicle near them.

"Agh... wh-what the heck was that...?" Apollo was muttering as his vision finally cleared up, slowly returning to him. He was looking at the ground, and suddenly froze, blinking in confusion. Very, very slowly, he moved his head upward, his mouth falling open partway.
Phoenix was still standing right in front of him, but everything else he could see looked wrong. He was seeing the rooftops of buildings, the roads now far below him. They hadn't been on a rooftop themselves, so what was going on...?
"Wh-what...!?"
Phoenix's outburst made him realize something; he was still standing on solid ground, just like before. The problem was that the ground was now much further away from his eye-level than he was used to.
Down at his feet, he could see the sidewalk, but it wasn't even wide enough for him to stand on. His left shoe took up more than the full width of the entire stretch of pavement on its own, and had left a crater surrounded by deep cracks beneath its weight. His other foot was in the middle of the road, a car of roughly the same size as his shoe itself stopped in the middle of its lane, knocked aside. It seemed to have suddenly veered to avoid his foot, and grazed along the side of his shoe before stopping.
He felt very short of breath. He blinked several more times, but the bizarre image he was seeing didn't change.
"We're... wh-what just happened to us...?"

Phoenix was frozen in place as well, just in front of him. One of his own feet was partly settled on the road as well, though his heel was still covering much of the sidewalk. His other foot, on the other hand, was planted squarely in the middle of the burned out structure they'd been passing by, a cloud of dust arising from the spot. He'd damaged the ruins even further, his shoe crashing through the burned rubble to reach partway down to the basement level.

Apollo finally registered the many sounds of panic all around him again. He could hear yelling voices, car horns, at least one alarm...
(Th-this can't be real, right...? W-we'd have to be like fifty... no, eighty feet tall...!)
He looked around, still in utter disbelief. He was taller than any building in the immediate area. Sure, looking out across the rooftops, he could see some taller structures he still couldn't match, but...

He let out a shaky breath, and lifted one foot from the ground. When he stepped down again, he shuddered at a noisy crunch from below, followed by a sudden increase in the panicked yells he could hear. He looked down, and found that he'd just stepped on a parked van, the entire vehicle crumpling pitifully beneath the full weight of his shoe.
"Oh, man-..." he stammered. Awkwardly lifting his foot again, he tried to step back, but staggered in place, suddenly losing his balance. He threw an arm forward to grab Phoenix's shoulder and steady himself, his other hand rushing to his side.
He heard another crash and winced. He'd grabbed onto something solid, but looked and found it to be the roof of an adjacent building, which hadn't responded well to his grip. His fingers had broken through a sizeable portion of the building's roof, bits of debris tumbling down to the sidewalk.

For both of the now-giant attorneys, this situation was incredibly strange, alarming, and left them completely stunned. Before long, however, they both began to feel a strange new sensation creeping over them.
This was... sort of fun. Intriguing, to be sure.
As bizarre as it was, Apollo found himself smiling slightly as he lifted a foot again and slammed it down hard against the pavement. A boom that made the buildings around him shudder sounded from the impact, the concrete splitting apart beneath his shoe. He looked up again, and was surprised to see Phoenix taking a firm grip on a radio mast atop another building and bending it sideways with what looked like very little effort.

They needed some more space. Apollo stepped aside, only just making an effort to avoid planting his feet on anyone or anything else below besides the ground. He was feeling a very strange desire to see just what else he was capable of at this new, incredible size. His eyes were just scanning over the chaotic space around him when he remembered something.
"The office." he said. Phoenix looked back at him. "Shouldn't we still be heading back there?"
Phoenix's expression was difficult to read, but he nodded.
Apollo strode forward, his every footfall causing a rumble and a panic below. Already he was thinking of Athena and Trucy, still just waiting around back in the Wright Anything Agency, totally unaware of what was going on here. Given his new height, Apollo guessed that he would now be well over twice the office's entire height. Seeing the girls react to that new development would be quite a fun experience.
At this size, getting back to the Agency wouldn't take more than a few minutes...
