Although the shrinking ray can (and will be) introduced into Erica's shrinking saga in different ways, her stories all begin the same way,
Erica is in her bedroom, still dressed in the cheerleading outfit she wore to her high school's pep rally earlier that day (Erica is a cheerleader and a sophomore at the local high school). Erica is resting on her bed, flat on her back staring at the ceiling, while the music on her mp3 blares loudly.
Erica is bored because she's going to be alone in the house this weekend. Worse, she's been forbidden to either go over to somebody else's house, or to have someone over to her house.
Unbeknownst to Erica, she will neither be alone nor bored this weekend. There's someone else in the house. Someone with a shrinking ray!
