You just bought a beautiful pendant for your girlfriend, Julie. It cost you the entire paycheck for the week and a little more with taxes. It was a beautiful thing. Made of 20-karat gold, the pendent itself had a ruby, emerald, and diamond embedded into it. You somewhat humorously thought it looked like a stoplight.
Julie was actually quite rich, and could have....well...anything, and anyone. But she had chosen you over all others. Surprisingly enough, her parents had been ok with their daughter dating someone "poor" like you. You lived in her 20-room house, but hadn't really gotten used to the idea of having anything you wanted, and so you worked a "dead-end" job and personally bought things that you wanted or needed with your paycheck.
Even though you had paid well for the pendant, the jeweler had a warning kind of look in his eyes as he handed it to you, almost seeming to say "Be careful." It had weirded you out, but you ignored it, thinking he was just being strange. This was completely pushed out of your mind when you actually showed the pendant to Julie, and she loved it a lot.
"Oh it's beautiful! Thanks so much!" Julie said as she jumped onto you, nearly making you fall over as you brought up your arms to hold her. "I'm gonna go try it on!" She then rushed off to her room, nearly knocking over a maid who was dusting.
Smiling to yourself, you are quite happy that she's happy. You wonder what you two are gonna do later. You decide to just go up to her and ask. Knocking on her door and not recieiving an answer, you open the door to see...
