A devious smile crept onto Mark's face. Use the portal device on a video game, enter the Mario universe, and meet one of its characters, Princess Peach, in person! It was the perfect plan...
At least, that was what he kept telling himself.
The high-schooler turned on his Wii U, ensured that a Mario game disc was in the system (he couldn't afford to be picky as to which game in the series he used), and pointed his portal gadget at the TV. It only took the press of a small button for a bright light to pop out of the TV, almost as if the screen had been transformed into a dimensional portal...because, well, it WAS transformed into a dimensional portal. Mark, in his shock and awe, found himself unable to fight his suction into the screen-turned-portal, and was pulled in completely. The sheer astonishment of the situation, coupled with the brightness of the interdimensional rift, caused Mark to quickly lose consciousness...
After an indeterminate amount of time, Mark slowly awoke with a yawn in a grassy field. This didn't look quite like home, but something about this place just seemed...peaceful. Few clouds in the sky, a gentle breeze blowing past your back, and various hills on the horizon that had...eyes?!
"Wow...the device actually worked!" Mark smiled excitedly. "I'm in the Mushroom Kingdom now! But...I should probably go back home so I can run more tests..." He reached into his left pocket for the device...but it was empty. He double-checked his left pocket, then his right. Nothing. He began to panic.
"Crap...I lost the device!! What am I gonna do now?!"
Mark heard a feminine giggle from behind him. Turning around, he was surprised to see a blonde woman wearing a pink dress, a golden crown, and red pumps. Her blue eyes looked on with playful curiosity, and her pink lips retained a soft smile. The teenage boy quickly recognized this figure as Princess Peach, ruler of the Mushroom Kingdom. Oh, and in her hands was the portal device!
Wait...how'd she get a hold of that?
Before he could do anything, though, Mark witnessed Peach press a crimson button on the device, which emitted an eerie green beam at the high-school genius. He found his surroundings gradually getting bigger...bigger...and bigger still...until his entire height was dwarfed by her high heel.
"What the heck...you shrunk me!" Mark retorted, before the now-towering Princess reached her gloved hands down to scoop him up, raising him closer to her face.
"Of course I did!" Peach chuckled cutely. "With Mario so busy these days, I've gotten rather lonesome. I really could use a tiny..."  indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
