Chapter #3

Catching up with an old friend

    by: Trampltrum Author IconMail Icon
Alice looked down at her clothes; pant-suit? Way to formal, gotta go; this was just a simple meet-up with an old friend that was all.

Slipping the skirt over her hips Alice reminisced about her days back at Buttercombe and all the people she had met there; some for the best, others for the worst, like any traditional high-school upbringing really.

Buttoning up her top Alice then thought back to her friends; Samantha her punk bestie, Mel her “big sister” as long as Alice’s real big sister was not around, Ronnie the R.A. with a heart of gold and a whiz in the kitchen, Arisa the genius she had got to know well in her second year; good times.

Well if they were meeting her at a simple coffee shop in town, perhaps they lived in Abercrombie? She might be able to keep closer in touch with them.

Alice excited her apartment, locked the door and headed out; the sun was beating down brightly, but not enough to make her uncomfortably hot, and the plants were still in full bloom; not a bad day for a meet-up.

As Alice began her walk to the boulevard though, she could not help but notice the town’s rather high obese population. It was extraordinary, like she was back at Buttercombe or something. Everywhere she looked there was a boulder-like belly, a hug gelatinous backside or a huge bustline supported by a large potbelly. Alice hoped it wasn’t something to do with the food around here; after all that dieting down from her formally pudgy build it would be awful to slide back simply because she was going to a college in a town with a high chance of its occupants getting fat.

Arriving at the small coffee shop, Alice took a moment to look around; no sign of her old friend, the blonde woman must have been early. Deciding not to look like she was simply loitering about Alice went inside and decided to order a simple drink while she waited.

“Hi!” came the cheery greeting from the barrister behind the counter, waving an arm joyously as Alice approached.

“Oh! Hi” Alice replied with a bit of a jump, not expecting such an overenthusiastic server. The barrister looked like she really shouldn’t have been behind the counter; she was practically squeezed into it! She had long thin braided hair rolling over one shoulder, a round face with a sweet smile, big fluffy cheeks and a massive belly that was so large that the topmost roll was actually sitting on the counter while the woman’s backside jutted out so far back it HAD to be touching the back of the serving station.

“I’m Clara, your barrister today. What can I get you?” the woman cheerily asked, taking up a pen and notepad while snapping Alice out of her daze.

“Just a coffee” Alice replied, trying not to look too startled.

“Would you like a small, a medium or a large?” Clara asked, bouncing almost at the word large; as if making a cheeky joke about her own girth.

“Just a sm...actually a medium” Alice changed her mind, she shouldn’t get a large that was for sure, but a medium wouldn’t hurt.

“Awsome! One medium coming up!” the dark skinned barrister squeaked as she tried to manoeuvre her way over to the dispensers a little further down. This took several attempts, mostly as her belly and butt seemed to have jammed her in place and it took several grunts and squishy wiggles to unstick herself. Pouring the coffee with a seemingly well practiced hand, Clara handed the piping hot drink to Alice who presented the overfed woman with the payment. “Sorry about the delay, I swear they moved the counter recently, I keep getting stuck” Clara tried to hand-wave with a smile, the free hand trying to slosh her belly back into place as she resumed her previous position behind the front of the counter.

Alice raised an eyebrow, firstly at the clueless barrister, who did not seem to know just how big she was, and secondly at her drink; she did order a medium, it said on the cup, but it really looked like a large. God was this what a medium gets you around here? Alice mentally jotted down to make sure she always got smalls of everything in this town.

Returning to the outside chairs, Alice settled herself down and began to sip her coffee; it may have been way too much for her to finish, but it sure tasted good. As Alice began to lose herself in her drink and absentmindedly scanning her surroundings a voice snapped her back to the original reason she came all the way out to the coffee shop anyway.

“Hey! Alice!”

Looking up, Alice saw...
