Dahlia knew it would have to happen eventually.
Yeng had their fingers in every business in Abercrombie, from the supermarket to the local plumber.
It was only a matter of time before they took notice of her rather meager sized training company.
Still, she was wondering what use they had for her. Based on the rumors she had heard, and seeing some of their employees, they didn’t seem too interested in helping people lose weight. Not that Dahlia minded, it meant plenty of clients (and eye candy) for the green haired trainer.
As she walked through the lobby, she remarked how clean and sterile everything was. Every white surface was gleaming. It was almost enough to make her miss watching the portly man in an ill fitting button up shirt making his way to the break room.
The secretary, most likely a new hire thanks to the fact that her clothes fit, said she would be seen shortly.
So she waited on a plush chair, and messaged some of her clients, seeing how they were doing. She saw most were sending the usual platitudes that things were going well, but she knew that most of them would only see the number on the scale increase rather than decrease.
She couldn’t wait to see Zack, at least.
After a few minutes, she heard heels clicking towards you and saw a tall, lean Asian woman.
“Hello, my name is Dr. Fukuda Hinamizawa, head of R&D at this Yeng Branch.” She held out her hand, and Dahlia shook it.
“Pleased to meet you. You said you wanted to discuss something?”
Fukuda smiled. “Yes, apologies for the wait, I had a meeting run long. Please, follow me to my office.”
One long and awkward elevator ride later, they were sitting in her office, surprisingly barren for such a high ranking individual, Dahlia thought.
“We have a number of different divisions here at Yeng, but health and wellness has always been at the forefront of our priorities.”
Dahlia bit back a chuckle at that.
“We have various products in development, and would love your feedback.”
Dahlia nodded, curious as to what they were going to ask of her.
“We have three areas we want to focus on: Diet, Exercise, and Sleep.”
Fukuda pushed three folders towards her.
The first, held photos of various foods, from small cakes to fully cooked steaks.
“Our Diet+ line. Designed to increase flavor while also decreasing calories.”
The second folder was design specs for a pedometer, and some Yeng branded exercise equipment.
“The YengFit, a device designed to plan out your perfect workout routine.”
And the third had photos of a sleep mask and speaker.
“And the YengSleep, a way to ensure every night's rest is a good one.”
Fukuda folded her fingers under her chin.
“Yeng is prepared to hire you for one year to be a test subject/spokesperson, for one of our initiatives of your choosing. You will receive full room and board at one of our facilities, and a rather hefty monthly salary.”
Dahlia bit her lip, unsure.
She had heard the rumors of what Yeng really wanted, and she had her doubts any of this worked, or even if it didn’t do the opposite of what Fukuda said it would do.
Still, the money was awfully tempting…

Little did Dahlia know, she was being watched at this very moment.
“I wonder which one she will pick?”
“Most likely Diet+. What young girl like her wouldn’t want an endless supply of food that allegedly won’t make you fat?”
“Ja, but she is a fitness trainer. The YengFit might be right up her alley. Or the YengSleep.”
The two figures were Dr. Evie Mccarthy, and Helen Schartz, two senior researchers at Yeng and the secret reason for Yeng’s reputation.
Evie was a tall black woman, and Helen a short and portly blue haired german woman.
They were watching from a camera hidden in a flower on Fukuda’s desk, sipping coffee.
In truth, there was no need for another research subject, but Evie had seen a flier for Dahlia’s training service in town and knew she wanted to watch her absolutely explode.
Something about seeing the height of fitness fall to the depths of gluttony always got her going.
Helen brought over a fresh mug for her friend and research partner.
“Go over their effects again, Evie dear? I love hearing you explain them.”
Evie smiled and took a sip of pure black coffee.
“Diet+ is lower calorie, yes. But so subtly addictive it doesn’t matter. And it slows your metabolism to a crawl.”
“Heh,” Helen laughed, taking a sip of her own sugary and creamy coffee. “She’ll be an addict in 2 months, let alone what havoc a full year would have on her.”
“Most definitely. And YengFit makes sure you workout in the exact opposite way, making sure you get much less than you need. It breeds complacency, and as we both know complacency leads to chub.”
Helen let out a high pitched giggle.
“And the last one?”
Evie smirked.
“Our most exciting project. YengSleep sends out subliminal messaging. Warping the subjects thoughts to get hungrier, lazier, and hornier the longer they wore it.”
Helen downed her sugary drink. Working at a place like Yeng was like heaven for two freaks like her and Evie.
“Whichever one she chooses,we are sure to see much more of young Miss Dahlia, sure enough…”

Back in Fukuda’s office, she was waiting for Dahlia to make a decision.
Dahlia was torn.
The Diet+ seemed great, as she was beginning to get rather sick of Kale and Grilled chicken.
YengFit made the most sense, considering her job.
And YengSleep sounded heavenly, for someone with a demanding daytime job and an active nightlife such as her.
In the end, she could only pick one however.
“I think i’ll pick…”
