Chapter #3

Marni, Living Large with her Life Coach

    by: Pink-Lightning Author IconMail Icon
         “Another great show, Marni.”

         “Thanks Clara…”

They finished the show as they always did. Her personal assistant, Clara, immediately brought Marni a bucket of fried chicken she had hot and ready, along with a 2 liter of coke, while Marni munched on that and messaged her online life coach.

It seemed like a silly thing, a woman as successful as her taking advice from a stranger on the internet, and paying her for the privilege, but her career was on the skids before she started talking to her. Her long term professional cohost Cass parted ways with her as her spiraling obesity and eating habit were becoming a problem, and the studio sided with Cass because well…Marni couldn't stop eating on air. It hurt at the time, but Marni couldn’t really blame her for it. They stayed friends and stayed in touch, while Marni tried to make a new career in food reviewing work.

Things were looking rough and Marni was considering getting like…a regular job as a receptionist or something when she won a few months of free life coaching in, of all things, a radio contest. She always loved those things, it’s how she got into this career.

Well, 6 months later, her life was back on track. She didn’t lose any weight (not that she ever wanted to) but she could stop stuffing her face long enough to do her job again, and her job was doing better then ever.

It wasn’t exactly like this life coach (Marni never learned her name, she was told anonymity helped the process, and she believed it) was her agent, or her business manager. She seemed to know a lot about those fields, but her main expertise was in the field of Marni. What did Marni actually need, what would make her happy, and what would advance her career. So Marni brought every business decision, every new sponsor, every new job to her and she would help Marni weigh the pros and cons and figure out what was best for her.

In fact, it was this mysterious life coach who gave Marni the confidence to move back to Abercrombie where she started. She had no idea the business opportunities that were taking of there. Since then the sponsorship offers were rolling in, and she was her own boss, with a TV and Radio Station and an online presence.

Marni texted her: ‘Did you see the show?’

I did. You did fantastic.

‘Really? I thought it was just, you know, an average show? Nothing special.’

When you are reaching this level of excellence, consistency is the key. Just don’t get complacent like before, and more and more will come to you.

Marni felt around and realized the entire bucket, all 12 pieces of chicken had disappeared in the black hole of her stomach without even thinking about it. More sounded good.

She scratched her belly sending it wobbling.

“Clara? Bring me some donuts, I get a dinner engagement with…”
