Chapter #5

Summer in the rain

    by: Whade Author IconMail Icon
Chris Clove was arranging his old junk. An album from his grandmother, no he was never going to use THAT...A toy gun, no, he got that as a gift from Summer when they first went out ghost-hunting, there was no way he could possibly part with hat...
He was snapped out of his thoughts by knocking at the door

Chris answered it and found a soaked schoolgirl on his doorstep.
"Stupid rain."
Summer Salt spoke up, squeezing rainwoter out of her shirt, making Chris' heart beat faster when he recognized the voice.
"There was no sign of this shower when I spoke to Jamie just ten minutes ago."

"Summer...Why did you come here?"
"I need a reason to visit my friends now? You don't want to see me?"
"NO! I mean, of course not, I just thought..."
"Then why don't you invite me in, or do you want to wait until I'm completely soaked and cold?"

Chris hurried out of the way, and brought some dry clothes and a towel.
Summer, with a relieved sigh, accepted them. They just sat on the bed in silence while Summer wiped the wetness off. Chris as usual was too much in awe to be able to think of anything to converse about.

After another minute of silence after Summer finished wiping and sat back, she suddenly spoke up:

"Chris. Why did you never ask me out?"
It came out of nowhere and left the boy babbling incomprehensibly.

"What? Speak up or I can't understand you."

"Ah...well, we've been spending a lot of time together..."
"Yeah, go on?"

And I never thought...No, if he was honest, it wasn't that that bothered him. He'd have given it a try even if he only had a snowball's chance.

"The truth is...I like to tickle people."
He broke down.
"I can't help it, okay?
And even though we've been running from that all this time...
I always thought I should be trying to protect you, and yet I still think of...
I'm a horrible person."

Summer looked at her shy friend. His honest determination was kind of showing him Chris in a new light.
She squinted, and flipped her hair back.
"Tsk. You should've just come to talk to me about it. Sure, it's torture and it's annoying but it's...it's not like I ALWAYS hated it."

"Like...Remember that time in the mansion, when we were trapped, but you just couldn't help NOT to tickle our feet..."
"Er, I rather hoped you'd have already forgotten that..."
"How could I forget it? I almost died, Chris! Remember when I said that I'd have you properly pay me back for it?"
"Uh oh."
"Indeed . Prepare yourself."
She took a deep breath.
"Your punishment is to confess to me properly this time."
"...Eehh?" o_o
"Well? If you don't I'll bring Jamie over to help, and believe me, she knows how to make people confess."
"Oh. Well, in that case...
Please go out with me."
Summer smirked and let her gaze wonder.
"Yeah, okay."
"Wha-REALLY?"
"Hey, don't open up all your champagne at once, Romeo."

Chris was flabbergasted. He was feeling like he should try to run a quick marathon, but that'd have meant leaving Summer alone which was unthinkable.

Summer was still smiling strangely.
"Well. I guess we should be telling Jamie the good news." She stared at Chris suggestively. "You know. When the rain is over."

"Ah. Okay. So...Could I maybe...Tickle your stomach?"
Summer looked like she was about to laugh once more.

"Yeah okay."

She lay back on the bed and...

You have the following choices:

1. A knock at the door (dammit!)

*Pen*
2. The phone rings (just ignore it)

3. The entire ceiling fell in

*Pen* indicates the next chapter needs to be written.
