There was an uncomfortable amount of silence that came from the giant girl as she closed the door behind her and pulled out her phone. Jaune didn’t know what to do besides back away in fear of the massive boots that could stomp him flat without remorse. At least now he knew how some of the students disappeared, now he just had to pray there was a way to reverse this.
Just when he tried to think of a plan, there was the sound of a notification coming from the giant’s phone. Whatever it was made her eyebrows lower, her look of concern switching towards a formal one. Seeing that look didn’t give Jaune much hope that she could be trusted. Maybe she was anticipating this and someone had given her the green light to do what needed to be done.
The moment Penny placed her phone away, he quickly rushed for the nearest hiding spot.
With a few sports equipment around for cover, the tiny detective had to rely on them just as Penny took her time walking around the shed. Her head was looking down at the floor as if looking for something small, or in this case someone small like the boy she talked to earlier. Her boots were raised and then lowered almost dramatically that the floor shook with the force of an earthquake. It was like she was trying to scare her target, showing what was gonna happen if she did see him.
Better to avoid such an outcome, Jaune thought as he held his breath and focused on escaping.
He walked just by the rolled up floor mat and noticed that Penny had lowered down to her knees. She was gonna get close to him soon enough. He was just only a few paces away from the door with the gap underneath it perfect to go under with the light of the outside world awaiting him. It was gonna be scary having to encounter anybody else gigantic like Penny, but hopefully they weren’t as dangerous as she seemed. If she was helping out whoever was behind this, it could’ve been one of the many teachers or students of this school.
No way could he let this happen to anyone else, he had to figure out who and stop them.
The tiny detective was only a few steps away. There was nothing else to hide behind for the door was just up ahead. He’d have to make a run for it. It was risky, and he wasn’t sure he can even succeed when Penny was crawling around quite fast. But he knew nobody got to where they were without some risks, so there was a chance for him to succeed.
“Here goes.” He muttered and started running for the door. Can he make it?
