The Bet

Alex makes a bet with her mother, Theresa.

The bet being that if Alex can get an A on her next math test, then her mother would give her money for a concert Alex wanted to go to for awhile. But if Alex did not get an A on her next math test, then she would have to do whatever her mother wanted for the rest of the school year.
