You wiggle your toes and waddle to your bed, where a pair of your shoes were. With a clear head, you compared your feet to the shoe size to confirm what you were slowly realizing. The socks were shrinking you to fit them.
"Wait a minute, aren't these mom's socks?"
You heard of walking a day in someone else's shoes, but this was something else. A part of you wanted to question the logic in how it was wearing someone else's clothes would literally transform you into the person. Another part was curious, like a deep seeded door had opened up inside of you.
What would happen if you kept wearing the socks? You were wearing your own clothes besides them. What would happen if you removed them?
You sat up on the bed, which was a little higher than you were used to it being, and pulled off the slippers and your mother's socks.
In an instant, you felt a tingling go up your spine as everything expanded upwards ever so slightly. Your old height returned back to normal and you shot up three inches, back to your normal size of 6'2. You held out your leg as your foot began to bubble and bloat, your toes growing to bulbous sizes while the rest of your foot caught up. All the while, it felt like there were pins and needles on the skin of your feet. But you found yourself enjoying it.
In half a minute, your feet had returned to the boyish size. For good measure, you compared them to the slippers. It was mindboggling to think that just moments ago, they can fit you comfortably.
"So, there's something special about these socks," you decided.
Though you had barely passed physics, your brain was buzzing with all sorts of scientific questions. Did this apply to other clothes that weren't yours? What would happen if you kept the socks on for longer? What if you were only wearing the socks?
You weren't left wandering for long as a shrill voice called out from downstairs.
"John," yelled your mother. "Pizza's getting cold!"
"Be right there!"
