Josh opened his eyes for the first time of the day,but at first couldn't see anything due to his new long brown hair covering his face. After he cleared his hair out of his face, he decided to go find his sister. He wanted to fix his hair, as he was tired of it always being out of control. He went to her room, which had the door open. He saw his youngest sister inside, while Courtney was nowhere to be found even though she shared the room with Bri.
"Hey Joshie!" She said. "You want to make another swap before I leave for the game?"
"No thanks." He replied. "I wanted to know if you could get my hair to stop moving and get it under control.
"Here." Said Bri, patting the chair in front of the mirror where she put her makeup on. "I can try something."
Josh sat down and his sister went to work, after about ten seconds, she had pulled his hair back into a ponytail.
"Is that better?" She asked.
Josh got up and found that his hair no longer got in his way when he moved. "Perfect!" He exclaimed.
"Good. Glad I could help." Bri assured him. "It's the least I could do for you when you let me borrow your hair for the big game."
Josh went downstairs and hopped on the couch to watch some TV, where he switched to the Comedy Central channel. He saw Courtney was eating breakfast in the kitchen, where Kim was getting drinks together for Bri during her game. After a few minutes, Bri came down and entered the kitchen. "Ready to go sweetie?" Josh heard his mom ask the youngest Mitchell.
"Yes ma'am!" She said excitedly.
"Josh and Courtney, I'm taking Bri to her game. We won't be back for awhile, especially if she wins because then there will then be a team party." She said. "That means it's just you two, so be good!"
"Bye mom!" Josh said, while Courtney waved as Kim and Bri left the kitchen, and eventually they were outside and in the car.
After about ten minutes, Courtney entered the room, where Josh was still sitting on the couch watching Comedy Central. "Hey big bro!" She said. "Do you mind if I watch with you?"
"No, not at all." He told her.
While they continued to watch Courtney tried to start some kind of a conversation. "Well I see you finally got your hair in a ponytail." She said laughing.
"Yeah. Bri helped me with it." Josh replied.
"Speaking of her, I wonder how her game will go." Courtney said, realizing there would be a team party if she won, meaning she could have so more peace and quiet.
"I think she'll win." Josh said, hoping that it would happen for the good of his sister. "She's definitely gonna play better now that she has my shorter hair which will stay out of her way." Josh immediately cussed himself out quietly for spilling his secret swap with his sister.
"She has what!?!?" Courtney asked.
Josh panicked and tried to come up with something to trick her sister. "Umm... I said she would take better care of the ball." Emphasizing the care so his sister would think he meant that instead of hair.
"That's not what you said." Courtney told him, not buying his desperate escape. Now tell me what you meant by Bri having your hair and don't lie."
Josh explained everything to his sister, including the hair and friend swaps. He told her about the old woman that first gave him the power, and how Bri found out.
"How come I didn't notice that you have Bri's hair then?" Courtney asked intrigued.
"I think my power makes the people around us think we've always been like this." He told her, even though he wasn't exactly sure how or why.
"Can we make a swap?" Courtney said, which surprised Josh because he didn't think she would believe him.
"I don't really want to right now." Josh told her.
"Oh come on! You'll swap with Bri and not me?" She questioned, annoyed at the fact he was excluding her.
"No, it just that I've already swapped two things and I don't want to swap any more."
"Well, I was just going to ask if you would swap Bri's hair with mine." Said Courtney. "You would still only have swapped two things.
"Why would you want to do that?" He asked. He didn't see any reason he would do that anyway because he was gonna swap back with Bri later anyway.
"Two reasons. One, I'm tired of people calling me a ginger. I'm a strawberry blonde. Two, Bri's hair is still long like girls normally have it." She explained.
"I don't know if I should." Josh told her.
"Also, I can tell your long hair bothers you. At least mine is a bit shorter." His sister said, trying to convince him.
Josh thought she had a point. He would like shorter hair, and even if it was still longer than his, it wouldn't be as bad as having Bri's. He also realized that since everyone else didn't notice the swaps between him and Bri, it was possible that a third swap would make her think Courtney's hair was hers, and she would swap back with him anyway.
"Okay fine. I agree to swap hair with you." He said, after the flash of light returned for a quick moment, Josh saw that Courtney now had Bri's longer brown hair cascading down to her back, while Josh's hair was stop still pulled back into a ponytail. Howeverthere wasn't as much hair pulled back now.
"Yay!" Courtney squealed and hugged Josh. "Thank you!" She never asked about whether Bri would want her hair back or not, and Josh figured that she didn't really care. That was fine with him, as it would allow him to carry out his plan later that night.
"Okay..." Josh trailed off. "I think I'm going to play some PlayStation." He started to leave.
"Wait!" Courtney said. "Can we please make another swap."
Josh knew it would come to this, which was why he tried to leave. "I told you sis, I don't want to make more than two swaps at once."
"I'll give you my allowance for next week." She blurted out. This seemed to interest Josh, as he was trying to save up for a new video game that was coming out in the next few weeks.
"Okay, what do you want to swap?" Asked Josh.
"Before I tell you, you have to agree to swap until I give you the money from my allowance that night." She said, wanting to try and get a decent amount of time with the swap.
Josh thought about it. The day was currently Saturday, and the Mitchell kids got their allowance every Thursday, which meant that counting the rest of the day, they would be swapped for six days. "Deal." He finally agreed, he really wanted that new game. "Now do you want?"
"I want you to swap our _____." Said Courtney, which immediately made Josh regret agreeing to the deal.
