This choice: Courtney and Bri continue to nag 'mom' • Go Back...Chapter #4Courtney and Bri continue to nag 'mom' by: yugglopo Josh was sitting on his bed thinking of what to do next when he heard a knock on his door again. "Who is it?" He asked.
"It's Bri."
"Alright, come in."
"Why are you still in here mom?" She questioned.
"Umm... this is my room." He replied.
"No it isn't, this is Kim's room. Yours is over there." Bri told him, pointing in the direction of the biggest bedroom in the house. That was where the real mother in the family typically slept. "Geez, what's wrong with you today?"
Since he was now considered Bri's mother, he found it a bit disrespectful for Bri to talk to him like that. However it was his fault that her 'mom' was acting this way, so he held back from lashing out at her. "I'm just not really into it today. I don't think Kim is either."
"I don't think so either, but she did apologize to me."
"Well that's good. Did you need anything?" He said to her.
"Oh yeah, I was wondering when dinner was gonna be ready." She said.
"Honestly, I don't think it will be for awhile. Are you hungry?" Bri nodded. "Well, the best I can tell you is to grab a snack to hold you over. Whatever you want."
"Whatever I want? Awesome!" Bri said dashing out of the room, down the stairs, and into the kitchen.
Not knowing what to do next, Josh decided to leave the room. He wasn't quite sure what to do next, maybe visit his new room or go downstairs. He was interrupted again before he could make a decision. "Hey mom, can I talk to you for a minute?" Courtney asked approaching him.
"Uh... sure, what's the problem?"
"Nothing, I just wanted to apologize for my behavior earlier. I promise I'll clean up my act." She remarked.
"Thats weird. This is unlike Courtney, she must want something." Josh thought.
"And I was wondering if you could reconsider taking me and my friends to the mall?"
"There it is." Josh tried to think of what his mom would do. He thought maybe he go easy on her since he was a new mom after all. "I'll think about it. But you're gonna have to back your word about your behavior." He told her.
"Really? Thanks!" She exclaimed. "You won't have to pay, I have money from my allowance."
Josh realized there was a clear problem with taking his 'daughter' and her friends to the mall. He decided his next move was to address it.
Josh looked around the house and found Kim in her office on her computer . He knocked and opened the door where his mom was working. "Hey there Josh! I discovered that even though I'm now considered a kid in the family, I still have my job. I guess you go to school too." She said.
"Oh nice, but we've got a problem."
"What is it?"
"Well, Courtney came and apologized for her behavior and I told her I'd reconsider taking her and friends to the mall."
"But let me guess, you don't know how to drive." She finished his thought.
"Exactly. Do you think you can drive them for me."
"Well," she thought before getting a smirk on her face mid thought. "I told you I was taking off the weekend, but I have a different solution." Josh waited without giving a verbal response. "We should swap our skills." She suggested. "You'll be able to drive, which could be fun for you. Plus, you'll gain important stuff you need to know for being a mother. Like cooking, since you're going to be the one making the food around here for the weekend."
"Alright, I agree." He said, as there was a flash that consumed Kim's office. Josh found that he now knew how cook a family meal for four, make a perfect left turn with a car, and how to clean every inch of the house.
"Okay, I think it worked. Because I suddenly know how to play those video games of yours." She said.
"Cool, I'm gonna take Courtney now." He said walking out of the office. "Wait." He said turning around.
"What now?"
"I don't have a drivers license. It's not legal for me to drive."
"You can have mine." Kim offered.
"It won't do any good. You're a completely different person." He told her.
"No, I mean I'll swap mine to you so it becomes yours." She explained.
"Oh, good idea. I'll take it." Once again, a flash consumed the office. Josh then after reached into his pocket and pulled out his wallet. He opened it and found a card inside, which had his name and picture. It was his own driver's license! Even more surprising, as legit as it looked, it still read he was 15 years of age. "Good enough for me." He thought, and tucked the wallet back into his pocket. "Alright Courtney, lets go!" He called as he opened up the door to the garage.
