"Mainly for those video games you play. Honestly, when you play with my sister it makes me jealous. Maybe if I'm good at them for once, I can share that with her and we'll bond over it."
After all that time, Josh finally knew why Jenn hated it when him and her sister played video games. "Yeah, I can see how that would get to you. I accept." He said as another flash of light kicked in, suddenly he knew how to put together a perfect study plan for a test, or how to put his new hair into a ponytail. But he couldn't remember the controls to Call of Duty anymore, which was a problem since he was supposed to play it with Kira in a moment or two.
There was a light knock on the door and Jenn told them to come in. Sure enough it was Kira.
"There you are Josh! Are you ready to play CoD now?"
"Hey Kira. I actually cramped my hand trying to hold on to my umbrella in that weather out there." He lied. "Maybe Jenn could take my spot?"
"That's good! No offense, but she's a lot better at it than you are."
Kira invited Josh to watch in her room while she played with Jenn. Kira showed him the 'spot' she had been talking about, and then had some fun with Jenn. The two sisters had a ball, having a good match which Jenn actually won. "Wow sis! That was great, we should play more often." Kira said.
"I agree, it was a lot of fun!" Jenn replied, turning to Josh and giving him a wink.
Josh was starting to feel like a third wheel. "Maybe I should just go." He said.
"You don't have to yet, we'll only play a little longer." Jenn insisted.
"It's fine, I gotta make it home for dinner anyway."
"Wait!" She called to him. "Here sis, just play without me while I walk him out." Jenn told her.
When they got to the bottom of the steps, Jenn broke the silence that lingered during their trip down the stairs. "Josh, is it okay if I make a rain check on coming to your house tonight? I want to spend some more time with my sister."
"Sure, that's fine."
"I'd like to test this out for the weekend with Kira. How about I give your skills back at school on Monday?"
He didn't like the idea of not having the ability to play over the weekend but was willing to make that accommodation for his friend. "Yeah, okay."
"Oh I almost forgot! My hair's dry now. Let's swap back." She said.
"Oh right." He said triggering a swap. Seeing that they were physically back to normal. Josh showed his gratitude for Jenn's promise on swapping back. "Cool, thanks."
"One last thing." She told him. "That was really cool. What you did for me up there, you're a great guy and friend." She gave him a kiss on the cheek.
Josh went from a bit down to feeling great. Any person would if their crush had just kissed them. "Alright, see you around!" He said with some energy, taking his umbrella and heading out the door.
