In a flash, Josh was standing outside his own doorway. He could see right in front of him inside his own house the little 8 year old girl. She was dressed in the apparel that he had been wearing. Specifically, boys jeans and a t-shirt although they have been resized two little girls body.
Josh in his gloved hands held a parasol in one gloved hand and a Halloween basket and fan in the other. He could see the frame of the wide-brimmed hat out of the corner of his eye and could feel the choker around his neck. When he look down, he saw the frilly peach colored dress that extended from his neck to the floor. He had never seen the tights and the heel shoes he wore but he could feel them on his legs and feet.
His head both filled up and emptied such that he knew everything he needed to know to live the girl's life. He knew the facts of the girls life such as all her family, her friends, where she lived and where she went to school. But he forgot everything he had learned since the third grade. He remembered knowing these things but couldn't use what he learned in any practical matter.
Josh stared at the girl in stunned silence for several seconds.
" Josh say thank you to the nice man and come along. We have all the houses to get to," the girl's mother shouted to him.
Josh dutifully said, " Thank you," and then turn to leave. Josh felt obliged to do as the woman told him.
What happens next?
Josh was so happy that his swapping power worked, that he couldn't help but to smile and skip towards his new 'Mommy'. He continued skipping in front of her towards the next house on the block. He carried his parasol in one hand and his Halloween basket in the other. The skirt of his dress bounded up and down with each hop. He acted like the eight-year-old girl people thought he was despite still having the body a teenage boy.
Back at his house, the girl watched Josh skip away and then close the door to what yshe thought was her house. She went to her room (Josh's former bedroom) laid upon his bed and turned on the TV. She was undecided about what to watch. She turned on Batman, but seem to remember that she liked My Little Pony.
When the doorbell rang and she answered it to see a couple of trick or treaters, she realized something was wrong. " Shouldn't I be trick or treating?" she asked herself. That was the point when she realized what had happened.
Good girl ran to the sidewalk and looked down the street. She couldn't see her former mother or Josh anywhere.
