Kim had had a long day. She had just arrived home from work. She liked being home when her kids were home, ut it was still very tough on her. She wished she could have a break.
"Calm down, what happened?."
"I was out and I got a superpower."
"Oh yeah, fine." Kim thought her son was just pretending like a boy often does. "Dinner will be ready at 5:30."
"No really. I can do something no one else can do."
"Sure, what?"
"I can swap traits with anyone...as long as I have their permission."
"What does that even mean?"
"It means we can swap traits."
"Traits? What type of traits?"
"Anything, I mean if I want to have your hair, I can have it as long as you agree."
"You already have my hair, it's the same color."
"I mean I can make it long like yours and have its style anything like that."
Kim's hair was certainly longer than her son's. She also had tinted it to be a strawberry blond. So it was quite different, at least for now.
"Yeah, sure, whatever."
"It's true."
"Have you tested it?"
"No."
"Then go away and be ready for dinner."
"I can prove it!"
"How?"
"Swap hair with me."
"Come on."
"You'll see."
"OK, how do I do it."
"All you have to do is say you'll agree to swap."
"Fine, whatever, I agree to..."
Before Kim finished her sentence, she saw her long strawberry, blond hair on her son's head. It flowed past his neck to the bottom of his shoulder blades.
"What the?"
"I told you it would work," Josh said with a giggle.
"What are you laughing about."
"You look funny with my hair."
"Your hair?"
"Yes."
Kim reached up to feel her hair. It wasn't cascading over her shoulders. It was relatively very short. looked around to see if there was a mirror in the kitchen. She didn't see anything that reflected her face. She walked quickly out of the kitchen to the bathroom. Josh followed behind her. She turned on the light and saw her reflection. She recognized her face. It was the face of a woman in her thirties, but she had the hairstyle of a boy.
Panicked, Kim told Josh, "We had better swap back before anyone sees us."
"Don't worry, since we swapped, no one will think any of this is strange."
