Stay away

    by: Dread Author IconMail Icon
There is no way I'm getting anywhere near her. If each tile can hold a football stadium, her feet span more than two tiles in length. They are absolutely massive and she moves them about carelessly in a shuffling motion or tap; any contact would crush or splatter me without her ever knowing. I'll just stay right here where it's safe.

The sound of an avalanche rings through my ears as my mom pours cereal into her bowl and a waterfall like sound of milk being poured is heard shortly afterwards. The sound of her eating is heard for a moment until the floor quivers again with more booming sounds.

Looking back to the doorway, I see Cindy pop into view. Wearing blue pajama pants and a white t-shirt; her feet bare just like Mom's.

"Good morning", I hear my mom's loud voice freakishly echo through the air.

"Good morning, mom. Where were you last night?"

"I got home a little later. Long day at work. I just wanted to sleep so you wouldn't have saw me since you were in your room."

Cindy steps forward right on top of a concentrated pile of crumbs the size of houses. Even she noticed she stepped in it. She lifts her leg up and brushes the crumbs off her sole.

"Yeah, this kitchen is a mess. Did you not do you chores?" My mom asks.

"I did mine! Dan was supposed to clean the kitchen, remember?"

"Hmm, where is he anyways?"

"I saw him earlier yesterday, I think he works Friday mornings so he's probably gone now."

My mom sighed in annoyance. It irritated her that I forgot to do chores but she couldn't complain since I at least had a job and helped pay bills. What she didn't know is that I felt sick yesterday and then obviously after I tried to take a nap all the craziness happened.

"Well if you see him after school, make sure he cleans this place up." Mom says from above.

"Well about that." Cindy says as she walks down the kitchen to grab a bowl and then back to the table. "Since I've been doing my chores all week, I wanted to ask you if I could sleepover with Kayla tonight."

Cindy's body is covered by the top of your chair allowing me to only see her legs and feet. I watch as she sits in the chair at the opposite side of the table from me.

"That's fine." Mom replies. "Just make sure to lock the house if you end up coming back here. I won't be here until very late, I have plans with Jennifer tonight."

I hear Cindy whisper a victorious "yes" at the okay to stay with her friend. This means if I stay here, I'll be alone for a while as my mom and Cindy have plans after work and school. Looking ahead, Cindy's gigantic feet move just as much as Mom's but at the back of her pajamas are strings that touch the floor. Perhaps I can climb those strings to get up to her or I can stay safe.

You have the following choices:

1. Approach Cindy.

2. Stay safe.
