Chapter #3

Get on the bed.

    by: Dread Author IconMail Icon
With how far her bathroom is from here, there is no way I'll reach her in time. She'd probably finish her bath and be walking out by the time I even get anywhere near the tub. In order to get help I'm going to have to think smart and plan ahead of these enormous giants. My mom is going to take a bath and most likely wind down on the bed before going to sleep. If I get on the bed, she'll be laying still and awake giving me time to get her help.

I walk closer to the bed and realize that this is taller than any existing building, it's like a mountainous plateau extending more than one thousand feet into the air. My fear for heights makes me hesitate my decision but if I let it dominate my choices from here on out I'll never get attention.

Under and surrounding my mom's bed is a thick cream colored rug used not only to stop the bed from scuffing her floors when it moves but for decoration. To me, this is a huge forest of carpet fibers as thick as tree trunks. I have to navigate through them for several long minutes until I reach the base of the bed. Normally it would be impossible for me to get up the bed, but my mom's comforter hangs off the edge and touches the ground. At my size, the smallest holes in the stitching of the blanket is more than big enough for my hands to fit inside and grasp like the rope ladders thrown off the side of old ships. From here, I begin my very long climb to the top.

It had to have taken over an hour. Good thing my mom took a very long time in the bathroom. But now I'm on top of the bed. I lay down on the thick comforter and take deep breaths, covered in sweat and my arms pained in exhaustion. The top of the bed is a vast field with wrinkles in the blankets and sheets looking like large hills and slopes with the pillows in the distance being mini-sized mountains. Something then catches my eye, my mom's phone. Maybe I can head to it and see if I can use it to get her attention?

You have the following choices:

*Noteb*
1. Go to the phone.

2. Stay out of the way, at the edge of the bed.

*Noteb* indicates the next chapter needs to be written.
