"I think I will take the odd looking rock." Jason replied as he got out a couple dollars to cover the anticipated cost. He looked over at the young woman and noticed that she seemed to be laughing at him. Not really knowing what she was laughing at him for, Jason asked. "What?"
"I'm sorry, but a couple of 'bucks' isn't going to cover the cost of this magnificent specimen of geological history." She replied to him as she brought her hands up to help emphasize the phrase.
"Well then how much will you take for it?" He wondered as his gaze started to focus more on the rock, almost as if it was calling out to him and he longed for them to go home with him.
The woman looked at Jason's gaze and knew that the magic of the store had done it's job and helped once more in securing owners for it's many items. "Hmm..." She feigned thinking, the magic of the store instantly told her how much money was in their pockets. "I think 132.46 will cover what this rock can do." She held up the rock and Jason could see the light reflecting off of the surface.
Jason's eyes grew a couple sizes when he heard the price, but the magic of the shop made him want it even more. "Okay." He quietly replied to her as he quickly got out his bank card and gave it to her. "Why does it cost so much?" Since the invention of the bank card, she marveled at how the store's magic could adapt so quickly and know how much money was in their account.
Jason watched as the sparkle in the young woman's eyes. "Well, this rock allows for wishes to be granted and anyone that hears the wish will be able to see the changes too." She started to hand him the rock, but stopped suddenly and held up her finger to emphasize something important. "But once a wish has been made you can't undo it and the wish might not be what you expect too. Also you need to make sure that nobody takes it from you. Just because you bought the rock, it doesn't recognize you as its owner. It's compelled to grant a wish to anyone that holds it, no matter who it is."
"So I can wish for money and fame?" Jason wondered as his gaze was finally broken with the young woman.
"Mortals, always thinking about money and other trivial." She quietly said to herself as she nodded her head. "But try and be as specific as possible to get what you want" She looked over at Jason and noticed that he seemed little confused. She sighed. "When you make the wish, try to describe it in detail in order to get what you want and reality will be rewritten to what you wished, but only to about 50 kilometers."
Looking a little confused at what he just heard, Jason glanced back at the young woman. "Wait. Don't you mean a 50 miles?"
Waving her hand around almost as if dismissing the question. "Whatever, the point is that the people around you to a certain point will believe what you wished for to be true, but outside that area they will know something is wrong."
"I still think you're trying to pull one over on me." Jason chuckled as he looked back over to the odd glimmering stone, which seemed to call his name. "But I will take it." He quickly handed over the money and clutched his new possession close to his chest as he met his family back at the entrance.
