In the end, nothing beats a nice, tall glass of milk. Quietly, the boy responds to his soft-furred mother, who pours him a glass of rich dairy to go with his breakfast. The milk disappears quickly, and he finishes his oatmeal after several minutes. "There we go, Alvas," his mother coos, brushing her "baby" boy's bedhead while he briefly zones out.
"I have your lunchbox and backpack ready, so you can head on to school. Oh, don't doze off! The bus will be here any minute!" He gets an embarrassing smooch on the forehead before he's given his things.
Though he's hardly aware, the boy is soon being nudged out the door, down to the sidewalk, and onto his school bus. It's not until he starts walking down the aisle that he realizes what's going on. Still, it doesn't phase him to be back off autopilot, since it happens pretty often.
Most of his soon-to-be classmates are anthros, with humans sprinkled in. His odd appearance earns him some strange looks and giggles, but he manages to find an empty seat without incident. Finally, the noise around him becomes less bothersome. Alvas begins to nod off.
