Mom winced before replying, "Joe is next door, studying with Rachel Scott. He... doesn't know about any of this yet."
"He doesn't know...?" Surprised, you asked. "Might I ask why?"
"You were not told until your flame first appeared, young lady." Frowning, mom countered. "It is my right to choose when to reveal the secret."
"It's dad's right too." Serious, you reminded.
Mom nodded. "True. However, it is against both laws to discuss any of it when one is in the presence of the normals; those who do not possess either power."
"So what are you planning to do?" Curious, you asked. "You know that dad will take full advantage of any alone time he has with Joe to talk to him about his mad science."
Mom sighed. "I was hoping you could talk to him about it." Hopeful, she said. "Joe and I get along very well but..." She blushed slightly. "Its easier to talk about magic with girls than boys."
You rolled your eyes. "Seriously...?" Unimpressed, you demanded. "You are an expert in combat magic but you are shy about talking about magic to your own son?"
"I'm not shy about talking about magic." Honestly, mom replied. "It's the prerequisite of becoming a girl I am not sure how to sell him." She sighed. "Joe has his heart set on becoming an Olympic athlete; its his one dream. If he thinks, even for a minute, that I'm trying to take that away..."
You shrugged, a sigh escaping your lips. "Fine. I'll go talk to him."
"Just make certain you talk to him away from any normal." Serious, mom said.
