This choice: Hours earlier, Joe's flight. • Go Back... Unknown to anyone, Joe had found a secret room in the basement shortly after you had left for Cauldron Academy. Inside, he found wonders beyond his wildest dreams. Dad had spoken to him about it shortly after finding it.
"I am a chaotic scientist, my son." Serious, he said. "It is a step above and beyond what people may view as magic. With this laboratory I had lovingly built for you, I have decided it was time for you to discover and explore your new found powers."
"Maybe, I should tell mom." Uncertain, Joe had said.
Dad smiled kindly, uncharacteristic of him. "You let me worry about your mother." Softly, he said. "Allow yourself some indulgence and explore our legacy."
At first, Joe was uncertain and unnerved but something about the laboratory called to him and he began to explore. Little did he know the addictive properties of chaotic science and soon found himself less and less concerned about telling mom of his discovery and of him learning chaotic science unsupervised. Still, his concern for you, his missing sister grew and grew. Finally, he had built his first mechanical broomstick and was determined to find you. With a hint dropped by dad, Joe discovered you were at Cauldron Academy and flew over the school a mere hour after you had left in a school van for home.
The school looked fairly normal from the air, just a complex of dark low buildings surrounded by a high vine covered wall. Joe circled the complex from above, becoming more and more worried. "I am sensing a lot of power down there." Wincing, he muttered. "How am I going to find Gina's bio signal with all that interference?"
Suddenly, an alarm sounded on the broomstick controls and Joe looked up to see a number of teenage girls quickly approaching him on broomsticks he could only guessed were versions of his own! "Uh-oh!"
Joe dived, taking evasive action while still searching for your bio signature, not knowing you had already left. The four teenage girls gave chase all around campus. "What did I do?! What did I do?!" Frightened, he screamed. "I'm just looking for my sister! Go away!"
"You are invading witch controlled airspace!" Sternly, a woman's voice sounded in his head. "Leave the area immediately or be forced down!"
"Where is my sister?!" Still evading, Joe demanded in his own thoughts. "I know she was sent here!"
Although Joe did not know how, his thought reply was received and the answer came. "All those who came here have graduated and left for home. I suggest you do the same, young man." There was a pause before the woman then yelled, "Look out!"
Joe turned just in time to run flat into the parameter wall. The broomstick was destroyed and Joe was thrown over the wall outside of school property. Joe laid, stunned on the grassy ground, his ears ringing and his head spinning, as the four teenage girls stepped up to him. As they looked upon his face, a bemused look formed upon their faces. "Joe Mage." Shaking her head, one said. "His mother is going to be furious..."
