(Takes place after the events of the game. It might be almost 10 years old, but I like to be careful.)
Yu Narukami was nervous. It had been months after he had left Inaba, and now he was coming back. His parents were lenient enough to let him spend his summer break back in the small town. His uncle Ryotaro and his younger cousin Nanako were both more than happy to take him in.
Stepping off the train, Yu took a deep breath. He forgot how much he missed the air in Inaba. It reminded him of the adventures he had. That seemed like years ago. He just couldn't believe it was a few months.
The train station was empty. Yu wanted his return to be a surprise. He wasn't one to make a big deal of things, after all. Maybe he'd just sit and wait in the usual spot in the food court at Junes until Yosuke noticed him. If not, then he'd just go to his uncle's house to try again the next day.
The walk to Junes was rather short and uneventful. He saw a few vaguely familiar faces walking down the shopping district, but no one he knew intimately. The food court was even surprisingly empty for it being a Sunday. However, he didn't think much of it.
He sat at the usual Investigation Team table, feeling a wave of nostalgia wash over him. As life threatening and terrifying the entire experience was, he still missed it.
"Hello, sir," said a voice, female and monotonous. She was dressed in a shade of blue that reminded him of Margaret.
Yu looked up from his phone. "Hello."
She held out a drink, a bottle of soda. "My boss told me to give you this. He said he'll see you as soon as work permits."
He nodded and took the drink. "Thank you," he said politely.
That was quick, he thought. He made a mental note to thank Yosuke later. It was then when he realized that he didn't ask the girl's name, so he could tell Yosuke to give her a raise or something. But when he turned around, expecting to see her walking away, he saw no-one.
Strange, he thought. She couldn't have disappeared so quickly. However, he didn't think much of it as he took a quick drink of the soda and waited for Yosuke.
Not much long after he finished the drink, Yu passed out, his head slamming against the table.
When Yu regained consciousness, he felt both dizzy and light headed. It didn't take a genius to figure out that he had fainted. However, he couldn't piece together why. The closest option was the heat, but today wasn't particularly hot.
He studied his surroundings. The floor around him was featureless, perfectly flat. It was pristine white, as if someone had just washed it. Looking off into the distance, he noted the same old Junes foodcourt, except it had been blown up to giant proportions.
When he turned around, he saw the giant bottle he was drinking from earlier.
So he shrunk. What now?
