Akira couldn't believe his luck. Another opportunity to get help just happened to walk through the door. Once again, he had to fight the surreal nature of seeing one of his confidants, hundreds of times his size, standing right in front of him.
And she was coming right at him.
Too battered to run, Akira found it difficult to run. His legs were much too sluggish, and the pain in his ankles made a sound argument that they might be broken. He tried to awkwardly shuffle away from the incoming footfalls from the incoming Chihaya. He stopped and watched as the leather sole of the fortune teller came down on him at an alarming pace. All he could do was hold his arms up to shield himself.
Fortune smiled upon him once again, as he inadvertently threaded the needle between the sole of her shoe and the heel. Either Chihaya's presence was giving him a great amount of dumb luck, or this was a sign that he wasn't meant to die today. Regardless, he had to take advantage of this somehow.
Chihaya entered the coffee shop with a slight pout on her face. She was behind on the number of Holy Stones she had to sell. And now that she had vowed to give those who bought the fake stones free fortunes, she had to supplement all losses in revenue out of her pocket. She needed a pick-me-up. Still, she felt much better after talking to Akira.
Akira.
The second his name entered her mind, she felt his presence. He was here, yet she couldn't see him with a cursory scan of the cafe. That's odd, she thought. She could always detect when he was around, so why did she feel this way now.
Down below, Akira had grabbed onto Chihaya's shoe, hitching a ride. He tried to ignore the heights with each step the giant woman took.
After ordering her coffee, Chihaya made her way over to a booth in the corner of the room where she could drink in peace.
