Chapter #6

My Alchemical Romance

    by: Frost Author IconMail Icon
A pair of legs the size of skyscrapers, clad in striped stockings, caught Yu’s attention. Although, he wasn’t entirely sure whether or not he was glad to see Marie. Sure, she might help him, but she could stamp him out if she thought his shrunken stature was a ploy to look up her plaid skirt. He still wasn’t entirely sure if she even liked him, considering her rather misanthropic tendencies.

He didn't really have the option to be picky anyway. He just wanted to return to normal soon.

Yu began his trek across the velvet floor of the limo. The closer he got to the giant attendant the larger she appeared to be. Luckily for him, she seemed to be busy, working on another one of her poems. She wouldn't be moving any time soon.

He began his climb, making his way up the thick blasting outsole of the boot. The rough texture made for easy footholds. After a few minutes of nonstop climbing, he found himself on top of the toe section of her shoe. That alone warranted a break. Yu flopped onto his back, catching his breath as he realized he had much longer to go. His arms began to hurt, not unlike the first time he spent fighting shadows, the handle of his blade leaving his hands raw.

Grimacing, Yu decided it was time to continue his journey. Luckily for him, the cloth fibers of Marie’s socks were less taxing on his hands. The natural slope of her legs helped him up as well. By the time he reached her knee, he was ready to collapse. He just hoped Marie would find him.

The tiny boy couldn’t help but feel a bit bashful once he caught a peek up her skirt. he didn’t mean to. It was just part of his climb. Besides, he’d have to climb across the plaid landscape anyway if he wanted any chance of reaching her ear.

“Yu Narukami,” Marie said.

Yu froze, looking up at the giantess. However, he was a bit confused to find that she wasn’t looking at her but instead at the piece of paper she was writing on.

“My alchemical romance,” she paused for a moment, writing down that phrase. She snapped her fingers before excitedly writing the next part. “Knows no bounds for you!" She pumped her fist. "Ha, it writes itself!”

Yu cocked his head. Then it dawned on him. She was writing a haiku, one dedicated to him, apparently. And it was bad. Like, it didn’t even make sense. What did alchemy have to do with romance. He briefly recalled hearing in class that love was technically a chemical reaction, but that was different than the practice of alchemy. Unsure what to think, Yu chalked it off as a forced way to fit the haiku structure. He shook the thoughts from his head, choosing to instead focus on getting noticed.

The shrunken teenager continued his climb once again, finding it difficult to climb up her shirt, but he was managing just fine.

Marie read over her poem again. Seemingly satisfied, she folded up the slip of paper and began to slip it into her shirt pocket. However, she noticed something climbing up her shirt.
