"So… you’re really leaving.” Chie stared down at her shoes, avoiding eye contact.
Chie Satonaka had texted Yu in the early hours of the night. As his girlfriend, she insisted on seeing him alone one last time before he left. The first thing in the morning, Yu replied and they agreed to meet at Chie’s house.
“Yeah,” Yu hummed, a bit of sadness in his voice. “I’ll make sure to call and text.”
Chie nodded. “Right, right.” She pursed her lips, eyes looking at the TV, a rather large flatscreen.
“I see you got a big screen,” Yu noted.
“Yeah,” Chie responded, followed by her awkward giggle. “My dad said it was the whole family’s Christmas gift.” There was a slight lull in the conversation. “Hey, do you want to enter the TV world one last time. Maybe take a walk or something?”
Yu scratched at his neck. “I don’t know if we have the time.”
Chie stared at her feet. "Come on, just for old time's sake. We can leave before you have to go.”
"Alright," Yu answered, earning an excited yip from his girlfriend.
The two walked down the many bridges and catwalks that made up the TV world after it had been lifted from the fog. Chie insisted on wearing her glasses, claiming it just felt right. The two walked around listlessly, admiring the scenery. It felt completely different when it was shrouded in fog. The lazy river streams, and the lush greenery stole their attention from each other. As long as they were alone together, it was their own Garden of Eden.
The two reached a dead end, blocked off by boulders taking over a path.
“Looks like we can’t go any farther,” Yu said. He looked to his side and was a bit surprised to see that Chie wasn’t there. Then he heard the tell tale sound of a card being broken.
“Haraedo-no-OKAMI!” Chie yelled, focusing her attention on her boyfriend.
Yu turned around and realized it was too late as a strange beam had hit him. He felt woozy, and he dropped down to one knee. Chie stepped closer, and the teenage boy could have sworn that she was getting… taller?
It didn’t take him much longer for him to piece together that whatever his girlfriend had hit him with was changing his size. After a few more seconds of feeling nauseous, he felt his stomach settle, however his heart didn’t as he found himself staring up at his now giant girlfriend.
Chie kneeled, plucking up her shrunken boyfriend by the back of his shirt. “S-sorry,” she said, a slight frown on her face. “I love you, but I just can’t let you go.”
“C-Chie!” Yu yelled, fighting for his freedom. “You can’t be serious! Change me back!”
“No.” Chie sighed, knowing that it was going to be difficult. “I know you’re going to be angry with me for this, but I promise you’ll get over it.” She paused for a moment, taking a deep breath. “We can finally be together… Y’know, forever like we said.”
“B-but why? How?”
Chie flinched, fighting back tears. The more she thought about it, the more it seemed stupid and selfish. Still, she just couldn't let Yu just walk out of her life. “It’s just… you make me feel special when we’re together, and I don’t want to lose that. I got this skill after our last battle, and I kept it a secret until now.”
She clutched Yu close to her chest, unable to say any more. She now had her one and only in her hands, and she wasn’t going to let go so easily.
