Akira Kurusu came into view as he leisurely strolled up the stairwell, his left hand dipping deep into his pockets (as was his usual posture) while the other was rapidly tapping away at a phone that the boy was committing all of his attention to. Despite running late, Kurusu was walking with the same swagger as he normally did, clearly not the least bit concerned about the time. Ordinarily, Kawakami would find this trait irritating, but since his lack of urgency was keeping him slow and steady, she'd forgive him in this instance.
Kawakami thanked her lucky stars that, of all the students that could have turned up in this moment, it was Kurusu-san, who seemed intelligent and capable, given his grades and demeanor. She imagined that the worst she'd endure at his hand were a few sarcastic comments now and then. She dreaded to think of what might have happened if one of the students who were less fond of her found her in this state...
"KURUSU-SAN! DOWN HERE!" Kawakami called out to the oblivious student as he reached the top step. Unfortunately, her voice was as diminished as her size, and the boy's line of sight was entirely eaten by the electronic screen on his phone, his thumb tapping furiously as he responded to yet another message. The teacher regretted never truly chastising him for the many, many times she'd spotted him using his phone in class.
The giant's gait was predictable enough that Kawakami quickly made a beeline to the side of the hallway, eager to avoid being caught beneath the tread of his shoes. She continued to jump, wave and shout for the student's attention. "KURUSU-SAN! HELP!"
Akira made no indication that he had heard her.
Kawakami bit her lip. His path would take him right next to her as he walked down the hallway, and while she'd much prefer to stay against the wall where it was nice and safe, it was likely that she'd have no choice but to take a dive and cling to his shoe in hopes of grabbing his attention, lest he leave her alone in a hallway soon to be swarmed by far more students than just one...
