(Takes place between the fourth and fifth dungeons.)
It was the second night of the class trip to Tatsumi Port Island. Being familiar with the area, Rise Kujikawa convinced her friends to ditch the school’s boring itinerary and let her take them on an idol’s tour of the city. Wanting to get to the bottom of this group of teenagers and their obvious involvement in the serial murder case, Naoto Shirogane invited herself along.
She was beginning to regret this decision.
“Sho we go inta da TV,” Yukiko Amagi slurred drunkenly. “An’ we shum… we summon these myshtical head demons called Persona and kick the crap outta shadows!”
Naoto glared at the older girl. When she took advantage of the King’s Game to ask, point blank, how the group was involved in the case, the Amagi Inn heiress started spinning a fantastical tale of a world inside the television and monsters based on Jungian Archetypes apparently off the top of her head.
The rest of the group, to their credit, seemed mortified. Chie Satonaka and Yosuke Hanamura were frantically gesturing at their friend to shut up, and even Yu Narukami seemed to briefly snap out of his drunken haze as his eyes widened in alarm.
“Are you making fun of me?” Naoto demanded coldly.
Rise, who had nodded off after finishing her last drink, suddenly jolted up from her seat.
“Ish true!” she insisted. “PERSONAAA!”
She then collapsed back into her chair and fell asleep again.
Naoto sighed. She’d thought she’d made progress with these idiots. Perhaps if Kanji Tatsumi were still at the table, he’d have been intimidated into giving her a real answer, but he and the other blonde boy- who she thus far only knew as “Teddie”- had been missing since Teddie drunkenly tackled him at the start of the game.
“It’s obvious you have no intention of telling me the truth,” Naoto snapped. Her anger only grew as Yu barely suppressed an amused smirk. “But I’m curious- just how are you all intoxicated? There’s no alcohol in these drinks.”
“W-wait, really?” Chie asked incredulously. She was acting soberer than most of them, but she still slurred her words a bit. “Are we just drunk off the atmosphere?”
“I’m drunk on life. And tequila,” Yu quietly muttered. “Because I am King.”
“You stopped being king two turns ago!” Yosuke snapped. He then picked up his glass and looked at it with a concerned expression. “If there’s no alcohol in these drinks, why are we acting like this?”
Perhaps because your highly susceptible imbeciles, Naoto thought to herself, but chose not to say.
Yu started to sober up slightly. “Maybe they were spiked.”
Naoto scoffed at this. “I watched the drinks as they were being poured. There’s no way that…”
Most of the group immediately passed out.
---
“Partner…” Yosuke’s voice echoed hazily in the darkness. “Partner, wake up…”
“Ugh…” Yu groaned as he sat up. “What happened Yosuke?”
“Someone messed with our drinks!” Yosuke said grimly. “Look!”
Yu woke up immediately as he took in his surroundings. They were on the table they were all sitting around earlier, apparently shrunk to the size of small dolls. Empty glasses towered over them.
“What the hell is this?!” Yosuke yelled. “How is this even possible! Who would…”
“Calm down, Yosuke,” Yu said automatically. He looked around, finding the others on the table as well. Apparently, the whole group was affected.
All except for…
