Chapter #6Dragons & Delinquents by: gtsdude   "Here ya go, just plug this into your computer and boot up it up, I have it all set up for ya." Futaba pushed up her glasses and shot the blonde boy a smirk, handing him a neo featherman themed USB.
What she had just gave him was a pirated version of a popular online VR game that was trending at the moment. Of course the blonde boy wanted to give it a try, but didn't want to fork over money if he didn't have too.
"Sweet, thanks Futaba!" Ryuji smirked down at the USB in his hand. Ever since Akira had gone back to his home town, Ryuji found himself gaming with Futaba frequently online to keep in touch. He never bothered with gaming on his computer before but Futaba happily gave him her old tech when she got newer toys to play with.
"And here," Futaba turned to the left and grabbed what looked like a VR headset and body sensors, handing them off to Ryuji shortly after, "is my old VR set up. It's still a little wanky so don't quit the game before properly logging out okay?"
"Yeah yeah yeah," Ryuji took the tools into his arms after pocketing the USB, "You sure I won't get like banned on entry or nothing? These Atlus guys seem to get pretty peeved with people pirating their games."
"Pfft-" the Hacker scoffed, rolling her eyes as she waved her hand his way. "I've been playing a pirated version for the past two months, and the ban hammer hasn't come down on me yet."
Her words seemed to put the brute's nerves to ease as he turned towards the door. "Thanks Futaba, I'll login tonight!" He exclaimed, beginning to leave the room.
"I'll be waiting for you in the starting area. I'll be like the only max level there." She responded, turning back to her computer and sending the boy a wave.
---several hours later---
"Alright, time to see what all the fuss is about with this game
.." the teen said to himself as he threw on the headset, switching the game on.
[WELCOME TO DRAGONS & DUNGEONS - Alibaba edition~]
As soon as Futaba's trademark came up, so did the little logo, making Ryuji chuckle.
"Alright, that's what I'm talking about! Way to go Futaba!" Ryuji quickly pressed start and was taken to the character creator and name selection. He wasn't very good when it came to these things in games, so he decided to make the character look just like himself thanks to the sensors that Futaba had lent him. As for his name, he was never one to really roleplay in these things, so he just decided to put his own name.
"Let's get this party started!" Ryuji hovered his hand over the start button displayed before him, the selection of options disappearing, and a fancy cutscene played to make it seem as if Ryuji was being taken to a different world.
"Dude, visuals in this are insane!" The chariot chirped.
Soon enough the blinding lights came to a halt and Ryuji found himself in the starting area Futaba had mentioned, a small village it seemed. Turning to his left he could see other players spawning in, beginning their adventures as well.
"Cool!" Ryuji said to himself, amazed at how real and life like the game was, even on Futaba's old set up. Before he could start looking around, he was suddenly met with...  indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
