Joel the Arcanine

Life has been pretty fair to Joel in his 43 years of living. He lives in a nice apartment in Celadon City, has a nice job managing the Game Corner, and never has to want for anything.

At least, that's what he'd tell you.

And he wouldn't be entirely wrong. He's lived an average life, nothing special, but one blessed enough to shape him into a total sweetheart. Maybe even a pushover. Maybe. Just a little bit.

But what he wouldn't tell you is that he feels lonely. Not due to a lack of friends or acquaintances, he has those. Joel's problem is that he's never found that special someone. And at his age, he finds that incredibly embarrassing. So much so that he avoids the topic altogether. He hasn't quite given up the search, but he's not exactly trying all that hard either. Chalk it up to a lack of confidence.

The self-consciousness issues don't end there. He's gotten a tad pudgy in recent years, and he doesn't find it flattering. Much like his (lack of) love life troubles, he completely avoids the issue.

(Oh, here's a couple of fun facts: Those who know him consider Joel to be rather "dad-like", both in terms of appearance and demeanor. A few even think his lips look awfully kissable...)
