Darkness. It was all David was able to see. It was all around him. It was like floating through a void of nothingness.
After some time, David started to see familiar surroundings fading into existence. He was back in his college dorm at the school he was studying at in England this semester, but something was off. David was keenly aware of a sense of weightlessness. He soon found out why. Looking down at himself, he realized he was floating above his bed and his body was partially transparent, like a ghost. He could see his own body in the bed below.
"Shit. Am I dead?" he asked himself.
He got his answer moments later when his body began to stir. It got up out of bed and began his normal routine. "What?" David asked in confusion.
David floated after his body, trying to figure out what happened. He watched his body get dressed for work and then leave the dorm and head down the hallway. The body briefly stopped to peek out the window, but David himself kept floating forward, merging back into his body.
Suddenly, he felt the sensation of having a body again. "Fuck, that was weird," he said to himself. "I wonder, though ..."
He concentrated, and soon he was able to leave his body in the same spectral form again. "I guess it operates on autopilot while I'm not occupying it," David mused. "So I can go do whatever I want now." A grin formed on David's spectral face as he thought of the possibilities. He wondered if he could possess someone else's body in the same way he was able to his own. There was only one way to find out.
