Chapter #5

Tae takes her own medicine

    by: Drez Author IconMail Icon

Tae Takemi paused in her paperwork to glance at the door to the small clinic that she ran. She silently tried to will the door open to reveal her favorite guinea pig had came to see her. Tae had sent a text to the high school student known simply as Joker earlier in the day. There had been no response to the text whatsoever. That was assuming that Joker had seen the text in the first place. She had sent the text around lunchtime. Perhaps the kid really was busy with entrance exams or whatever he did. Tae had serious doubts that the kid was taking entrance exams.

The reason why Tae had sent the text was because she was ready for the next clinical trail. It had been weeks since Joker and Tae saw each other and the kid had invited her to the park. The two spent the afternoon testing out the effects of the new medicine was having on Joker. The high school student didn't look to be faster or stronger on that occasion.
The afternoon had ended with the two parting ways at the park. Joker had walked away while Tae had pulled out her phone to check her messages. In the corner of her eye, Tae spotted that Joker had paused a short way off and definitely throwing a leer her way.
Tae had been caught off guard by that. Was it possible that the kid was falling for her? Surely there must be a high school girl that the kid liked..or even loved? Perhaps it was just puppy love that the kid had. Tae wasn't totally against a romance between her and the kid. Tae didn't care about age.

Tae signed as the doctor continued on her paperwork behind the counter. The next clinical trail was in the examination room, waiting to be tested on the kid.

Tae remained busy with paperwork. It was dull work to be sure. Tae was praying for a patient to come in with some sort of emergency that she alone could solve. The door to the clinic remained stubbornly closed. Perhaps because it was summer that was the cause of the slow day.

Before Tae knew it, it was evening. The kid hadn't sent a reply. Tae was uncharacteristically impatient to test the medicine out. She had spent every waking hour on it. The work on the medicine had tired her out.
Then an idea came to the doctor. Why not test the new medicine on herself? It was just medicine after all.

Coming to a decision Tae gotten up from the chair and headed for the examination room.
Entering the room, Tae went to a drawer in the desk in the room. She opened the drawer and rummaged through it. Within a moment the doctor found what she had been looking for. It was a small unremarkable bottle filled with a reddish liquid.

Tae hesitated after opening the bottle. Shrugging, Tae took a small sip from the bottle. It was about a shot glass worth of the medicine. Tae didn't want to waste it.

The medicine tasted slightly sour and bitter but it was nothing that the punk-rock woman couldn't handle.

You have the following choices:
