Reese had the nicest phone on the market. It was bigger than the spread of her hand and still shone with a pristine white, packed nice and safe in a rose gold case and layered behind a hearty screen protector. Not that she needed it—this thing was her baby.
And going so long without her baby, Reese had almost forgotten what it was like to be able to zone out in front of its magnificent glory. Facebook feed, makeup tutorials, with her Spotify playlist booming from her speakers? Not with that little flip phone that her dad had been making her use ever since the "incident" with the car. Reese had literally cried when they gave her phone back to her, and she was going to spend as much of her day as possible making up for time apart.
Catching up with her old friends... no.
She hadn't really downloaded any new apps...
There were some new tutorials she could try out...
Ugh. This was dumb. Now she was bored and lonely. And what's worse, after an hour of mindlessly scrolling through her phone and getting reacquainted with it, she had only succeeded in wasting precious time before the next day of school. She wouldn't be able to talk her mom into letting her skip again. She may as well make the most of today. Maybe go outside...
Suddenly, her phone chimed softly and tickled her hand, putting an end to any of that "going outside" nonsense...
