Prologue:
⏸ I suppose a little fleshing out is in order...
Hi!
I'm Yu Chaba.
I lost my parents to the attack of the Nine-Tailed Fox attack when I was but an infant.
Being an orphan seems to be a part of the Family tradition, at least on my dad's side, since he was found one day in the middle of nowhere with a blanket & his name, Yōso.
From what the village records say, Yōso was a Specialist Jonin, specialized in teaching others how to change chakra natures for ninjutsu.
My mother was born to a tea gardening family in The Land of Fire. Her name was Midori Chaba.
I inherited my mother's modest house, as it served as the Chaba Family's hub for tea sales in the Hidden Leaf, and most of the Ninja world.
Fortunately, the head of the Chaba Clan didn't force me into the family business, allowing me to study to be a Ninja(with the most minimal of success), so my Aunt Yuderu is in charge of the sales & operations.
I also have an older cousin in the Hidden Leaf named Ayame, which is awesome considering her & her dad run Ichiraku Ramen, Konoha's best Ramen Restaurant.
She too lost her mother during the attack.
But enough about me, you're all probably wondering what the hell a talent deficient nobody like myself ended up partnered with Team Guy's beauty...
Well, it seems a band of well organized thieves infiltrated the Akimichi Clan Residence, stealing one of their clan's Forbidden Jutsu Scrolls.
Ino Yamanaka used one of the Yamanaka Clan's techniques, Mind Probing Technique, allowing her to probe a captured thief's mind for memories & information.
It was then discovered that the thieves had outposts and dens across all of The Land of Fire, making the reclamation of the scroll extremely difficult.
With no way to pinpoint where it could have gone, since the captured thief in question was of Low-Rank, the Akimichi Clan was prepared to trample The Land of Fire down to the ground to find them, Lady 5th said that the best way to locate them would be to form as many teams as possible to search for the scroll.
With that being said, the sheer amount of ninja needed would spread the Hidden Leaf's forces thin, forcing us all to be paired into teams of 2, with at least a Chunin or higher ranked to lead.
Since my teammates are now both a Specialist Jonin & an Anbu operative respectively, I was teamed up with Tenten, since I was barely able to be considered a Chunin.
Although her sensei & mine's are both the leaders of the new team, they both decided to unofficially put Tenten in charge, as her jutsu & skills made her more suited to lead in this mission.
Now...
Back to the story!
Yu Chaba: Sorry Tenten...
Don't know if it was me putting too much force, too much chakra-
Tenten: It's okay...
Maybe just don't land on anymore delicate branches, okay?
(Tenten helps you up to a stable branch)
YC: You think we're on the right track to find the thieves that stole the Forbidden Jutsu Scroll?
Tenten: Based on the tracks we've seen, they should be very close.
YC: Cool!
Cool cool...
So, uh...
How've you been doing as of late?
I didn't even get a good chance to ask after the whole Chunin exams fiasco.
⏯ I should mention that both Tenten's teammates & my own both graduated from the Academy in the same class, so I know them pretty well.
⏯
Tenten: As you can guess, me nor any of my team were advanced from the Chunin Exams...
Neji got the furthest, but Naruto beat him by the skin of his teeth during the first round of fights in the 3rd part...
I lost to a Hidden Sand Kunoichi, Temari during the preliminary rounds...
And Lee...
Lee got crippled in his fight with Gaara...
It's a miracle that Lady Tsunade was able to operate on him so that he could recover...
YC: Yeah, I heard that little psychopath nearly destroyed the Leaf Villa-
Wait, what's this about preliminary rounds?
We didn't have any preliminary rounds in our Chunin Exam.
Tenten: Wait, what!?
How many teams passed the second part of your Chunin Exams?
YC: Quite a lot honestly...
Oh yeah, that's right...
Sensei Tensei later told us that normally, they'd hold additional preliminary rounds to thin out the Genin.
However, it seems like Lady Mei made the decision to forgo them, which was debated for by her council, she ultimately concluded that since the Final Stage doesn't guarantee advancement, having multiple matches at once over the course of several days was sufficient enough to see if any Genin were worthy of advancement to Chunin.
Tenten: That... Actually makes sense...
YC: Well, there were additional rules made to test the contestants skills.
We were each allowed to compete in up to three 1v1 matches.
Winning three matches automatically guaranteed advancement to Chunin.
Losing three matches automatically disqualified you.
Damn it...
If we had your rules, I'd had at least two other chances to prove myself...
I really can't see anyone in our Chunin Exams going 3-0 though...
Maybe except for Sasuke.
YC: I can't believe he'd leave the village to train with arguably the worst missing-nin from the Hidden Leaf...
I get that he's a Sanin, but...
Lord 3rd is dead because of him...
I'm really gonna miss him...
Tenten: Me too...
C'mon!
We should get moving.
(After running for another hour, you both managed to spot a good vantage point to survey the area.
You could spot some armed thieves patrolling the perimeter of a compound with a few dozen thieves visible in the grounds.
Although there were trained ninja among them, the majority of them were not. So it wouldn't be impossible for you or Tenten sneak in, especially with a well executed distraction)
What is your next move?
