Chapter #3

Yu & Ino.

    by: Quagmire69 Author IconMail Icon
Prologue:

⏸ I suppose a little fleshing out is in order...

Hi!

I'm Yu Chaba.

I lost my parents to the attack of the Nine-Tailed Fox attack when I was but an infant.

Being an orphan seems to be a part of the Family tradition, at least on my dad's side, since he was found one day in the middle of nowhere with a blanket & his name, Yōso.

From what the village records say, Yōso was a Specialist Jonin, specialized in teaching others how to change chakra natures for ninjutsu.

My mother was born to a tea gardening family in The Land of Fire. Her name was Midori Chaba.

I inherited my mother's modest house, as it served as the Chaba Family's hub for tea sales in the Hidden Leaf, and most of the Ninja world.

Fortunately, the head of the Chaba Clan didn't force me into the family business, allowing me to study to be a Ninja(with the most minimal of success), so my Aunt Yuderu is in charge of the sales & operations.

I also have an older cousin in the Hidden Leaf named Ayame, which is awesome considering her & her dad run Ichiraku Ramen, Konoha's best Ramen Restaurant.

She too lost her mother during the attack.

But enough about me, you're all probably wondering what the hell a talent deficient nobody like myself ended up partnered with Team 10's Ms. Beauty...

Well, it seems a band of well organized thieves infiltrated the Akimichi Clan Residence, stealing one of their clan's Forbidden Jutsu Scrolls.

Ino used one of the Yamanaka Clan's techniques, Mind Probing Technique, allowing her to probe a captured thief's mind for memories & information.

It was then discovered that the thieves had outposts and dens across all of The Land of Fire, making the reclamation of the scroll extremely difficult.

With no way to pinpoint where it could have gone, since the captured thief in question was of Low-Rank, the Akimichi Clan was prepared to trample The Land of Fire down to the ground to find them, Lady 5th said that the best way to locate them would be to form as many teams as possible to search for the scroll.

With that being said, the sheer amount of ninja needed would spread the Hidden Leaf's forces thin, forcing us all to be paired into teams of 2, with at least a Chunin or higher ranked to lead.

Since my teammates are now both a Specialist Jonin & an Anbu operative respectively, I was teamed up with Ino Yamanaka, since I was barely able to be considered a Chunin.

Although her sensei & mine's are both the leaders of the new team, they both decided to unofficially put Ino in charge, as her jutsu & skills made her more suited to lead in this mission.

Now...

Back to the story!

Yu Chaba: Sorry Ino...

Don't know if it was me putting too much force, too much chakra-

Ino Yamanaka*Shock2*r maybe don't land on anymore delicate branches.

(Ino helps you up to a stable branch)

YC: You think we're on the right track to find the thieves that stole the Forbidden Jutsu Scroll?

IY: Based on that last thief I mind probed, their main warehouse is only an hour ahead...
😫
(Ino clutches her head, nearly stumbling off the branch had you not helped her)

YC: Whoa!!

You okay?

IY:*Groans*
Migraine...

It's a side effect of the Mind Probing Jutsu...

Once I master it, I shouldn't get them anymore.

YC: That sounds awful...

Hang on, I think I have some herbal teas for headaches & migraines...
(You search for the ingredients in your inventory)
Found it!

IY: Yu, we don't have time for tea.

YC: Don't worry Ino, it'll only takes a moment...
(You threw all the herbs & tea you needed to brew with in a homemade kettle)
💧(You poured fresh water in)
IY: What the heck kind of kettle is that?

YC: It's an electric kettle.

My cousin Kona got some while traveling to the Land of Iron for a shipment of powdered tea to some samurai.

Apparently, the samurai of the present use these to make tea without the tactical disadvantages of traditional methods.

IY: Powdered tea? Like Matcha?

YC: Exactly!

I made some modifications to it so it should be able to brew the perfect batch of tea with a fraction of the time.
(You added a French press like plunger to extract the flavors from the tea as efficiency as possible)
IY: Well, we don't have any outlet, so how exactly do you plan on powering it?

YC: You don't know me that well, so it's best to show you.
(You carefully pull out a sheet of Chakra Induction Paper)

(With the slightest addition of your chakra, the paper split)
IY: So you have an affinity for wind? That's pretty rare, but so what?

YC: Look again closer...
(The paper didn't just split in half, it split into quarters, Then each quarter of the paper was affected by a different chakra nature)
IY: W-What the hell?!

YC: I know...

This shouldn't be happening at all...

But believe it or not, supposedly the same thing happened to my dad when he tested his affinity...

I'll admit, I'm only mediocre when it comes to ninjutsu, but if what I heard about my dad, he was quite adept with every chakra nature, so I'm aiming to one day master them all.

IY: Okay, this interesting & all, but what does this have to do with making tea?

YC: I have a strong affinity for every nature type, including Lightning.

Now all I need to do is power this up, turn the kettle, bada bing bada boom, you got some fresh herbal tea!
🍵(You pour a cup for Ino, with add-ons on the side of the tea plate)

IY: Well... That was fast.
🌬🍵
*sip*

Mmm!

That's really good!

YC: Family recipe.

(As Ino finishes the tea, she notices the severity of her migraine lessen significantly)

IY: Well, my migraine is practically gone.

Did it really only take some tea to help me?

YC: Well...

I admit that I dabble in some medical ninjutsu, and realize that one could boost the holistic benefits of herbs with it.

IY: Well, that makes sense...
*Ahhh!*
Alright, I'm all done.
Let's head to the warehouse and find the scroll.

YC: Lead the way.

(After running for another hour, you both managed to spot a good vantage point to survey the area.

You could spot some armed thieves patrolling the perimeter of a compound with a few dozen thieves visible in the grounds.

Although there were trained ninja among them, the majority of them were not. So it wouldn't be impossible for you or Ino sneak in, especially with a well executed distraction)

What is your next move?

You have the following choices:

1. Yu distract.

*Noteb*
2. Ino distracts.

*Noteb*
3. Crap!! You were both spotted!

*Noteb* indicates the next chapter needs to be written.
