Amber woke up with her back to the floor, her employer shaking her awake.
"Amber! Amber!" Mr. Deasly yelled.
"Wh-what? What happened?" Amber said confused.
"You caught the statue and fell over. You alright?"
"Um. Yeah." Amber looked at her hands and saw the statue. Both of its hands were open now. "I guess didn't get enough sleep last night."
"Well, don't sweat it. You caught the statue and saved me a fortune." Mr. Deasly took the statue out of Amber's hand and placed it back on the podium.
"Anyway, as I was saying..." Mr. Deasly continued on with his presentation as if nothing had happened. Meanwhile, Amber got herself up and rubbed her head as she went back to her post. Two things were on her mind: The throbbing pain in her head and the word "Lose". She heard the word in her head very faintly and wondered what it meant and why she heard it in the first place. Did it have something to do with the statue? she thought.
In any case, Amber still had a job to do. The rest of the work day continued. After the presentation was finished, she spent the rest of her shift behind her desk, managing Mr. Deasly's messages and paperwork. The only thing that broke up the monotony of the day was a numbing sensation in her leg. This didn't phase Amber at all. She learned that when you sit in one place for more than an hour, your legs tend to fall asleep. And she also learned that the best way to avoid getting in trouble with her boss was to just put up with the feeling as best she could and ignore it and continue with your work. Luckily, Amber would only need to deal with it for another hour before she could stand up and get the blood flowing again.
At five 'o clock, the clock chimed an end to Amber's shift, however she stayed for a few minutes later to let Mr. Deasly leave first, leaving Amber to lock the office. She did this to both look like a hard working secretary and to also give herself some alone time in the office before going home.
Amber stood up to stretch, but was reminded of the numb feeling in her leg that flared up when she stood up. She looked down to see that her leg was...
