Padmé stops for a moment after hearing your pleas and feels a bit of doubt creep into her. She's heard that tone of voice before. She remembers it clearly because it's the one she used while begging the Senate for help during the Trade Federation's invasion of Naboo. Remembering how no one listened to her, she realizes that she must fully hear you out. Letting out a sigh, she looks to see you with a hopeful look on your face.
"Okay. We'll talk more about this later. In the meantime, I think you should stay here. You'll stay in my shoes tomorrow," Padmé states softly. Nodding, you smile up at her.
"Thank you for hearing me out,"
"Well, I'm not exactly sure what happened last night. There's a chance that you're right. If so, we're going to need to redefine our current circumstances," she informs you while gesturing between the both of you.
"Does that mean I'm getting kicked out?" you ask sadly. You knew that this was a possibility, but it still hurts nonetheless.
"No. I'm mainly discussing how we view each other. If it actually happened, you're no longer just my guest, but potentially something more personal," she explains.
Before you can question what she means, she raises a hand to silence you.
"We'll discuss this more later. Right now, I'm going to go to work. I'm going to need you to stay here. I would have you in my shoe, but I need some time to think by myself," Padmé tells you. Nodding in understanding, you motion for her to continue.
"While I'm gone, I'm going to have someone keep an eye on you," she says.
"Keep an eye on me? What about keeping me a secret? And who would it be?" you ask quickly.
"You'll be watched by Sabé, my most trusted handmaiden. I know that she'll keep our secret. Also, I may or may not have already told her about you," she responds sheepishly.
"What?!" you exclaim in shock.
"I'm sorry. She's my closest friend and I couldn't lie to her," Padmé explains.
"Fine. It's fine. When is she coming over?" you ask.
Suddenly, you hear a knock on the door. Padmé looks at you with a small grin before making her way over to answer it.
Once the door is opened, you're greeted to the sight of a woman that looks remarkably like Padmé. It makes sense given that she's supposed to be her body double. Nonetheless, it's still weird to see when the two stand near each other.
"Milady," Sabé says softly before being brought into a hug by Padmé. Chuckling, she returns it.
"No need for the formalities here. The only other person here is the little one you have to watch," she says while gesturing to you.
Immediately, Sabé looks and examines you. Unnerved by her calculating gaze, you squirm a bit.
Padmé, however, is unaware of this as she begins gathering her things. Handing you over to Sabé, she grabs a few datapads and heads towards the door.
"I hope the two of you have fun. I'll be back later today. Bye!" she quickly says before leaving her apartment.
Gulping nervously, you look up to see Sabé gazing at you with narrowed eyes.
